Basically, the story is that Star Wars and Lord of the Rings have sucked up all of the oxygen in the blockbuster stratosphere for the last six years leaving the aesthetics of these movies exactly where they were before The Trilogies appeared, only more atrophied, barely breathing. The Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter aside (both are slightly choppy seas on the far edge of The Trilogies'sunami), Star Wars and Lord of the Rings are what scientists call a'non-repeating phenomenon', which means something extraordinary and unexplainable that we 're unlikely to see again.

By the way, today is the summer solstice, the first day of summer in the northern hemisphere. Today is the longest day of the year in the northern half of the globe, and tonight is the shortest night. It's not that we are any closer to the sun. In fact, the earth is about three million miles further from the sun at this time of year. The difference is due to the fact that the planet is tilted on its axis, with the northern hemisphere tilted toward the sun. And it's that slight tilt, only 23 1/2 degrees that makes the difference between winter and summer and allows most of the plants we eat to germinate. Wheat and many other plants require an average temperature of at least 40 degrees Fahrenheit to grow; corn, 50 degrees; rice, an average temperature of 68 degrees.

Roger Friedman quietly makes a very serious allegation - that < a href = "http: // www.foxnews.com/story/0,293 3,160 192, 00. html" > Katie Holmes has been brainwashed by Tom Cruise </a > and his Scientology gang. The whole thing certainly is odd.

"- there. It was over there." The voice carried on the wind, and she stiffened. This was a distinctive male voice, but itstimbres were a high tenor. He must be young then. Turning, she sighted the pair at the top of a hill only two hills away. The male wore jeans and a faded grey shirt, his feet bare, and hisbrown hair slicked back against his skull. His companion was atall girl, who wore dark blue shorts that fell to her upper thigh, anda tight violet top that read the words, "princess" in redletters. Her blonde hair was wound in two tight braids, onetumbling over her right shoulder. Clear blue eyes met herown.

Today I realised my purpose in life is to worry. And to worry about worrying and about not worrying enough. I now understand why I can't seem to get anything done. I'm a very busy woman. Work - more and more PDR's. They fly fast and furious like the cards in Alice. Terminations crawl ever nearer as well. There may be changes before I get back. Not work - started a Jennifer Crusie paperback and so far it's entertaining as anything. I mightgo by Half Price and see if I can find a couple for the plane. I also started Karen Armstrong's new book and it's also good, but in a totally different, I might not read all of it way. Watched the AFI tribute to George Lucas and Carrie Fisher nearly killed me. seriously funny.

Nebraska Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel is angry. He's upset about the more than 1,700 U.S. soldiers killed and nearly 13,000 wounded in Iraq. He's also aggravated by the continued string of sunny assessments from the Bush administration, such as Vice President Dick Cheney's recent remark that the insurgency is in its "last throes." "Things aren't getting better; they 're getting worse. The White House is completely disconnected from reality," Hagel tells U.S. News. "It's like they 're just making it up as they go along. The reality is that we 're losing in Iraq."

Business on the floor of the House was halted for 45 minutes yesterday after Rep. John N. Hostettler (R-ind.) accused Democrats of "denigrating and demonizing Christians," prompting a furious protest from across the aisle. The House was debating a Democratic amendment to the annual defense appropriations bill that would have required the Air Force Academy to develop a plan for preventing "coercive and abusive religious proselytizing."

But I'm at a loss. So the cute and pithy question du jour is inspired by < a href = "http: // phyl.typepad.com" target = _ blank > Phyl </a >, lover of orange. What is your favorite color? (And by the way, if you 're reading this out loud, you have to read that sentence just like Tim delivered the line in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail.") Now comment! Paul Martin has laid down the gauntlet on same-sex marriage today, and Mps are not going to go to summer break until C-38 is law. All the Conservatives can do now is filibuster since their position in recent polls are crap, but that will only prolong their time in Ottawa. (This will also definitely delay the beginning of Stephen Harper's "charm offensive" to try to win votes!) Therefore, the Twisted Projection desk is confident enough to lay down a Green signal for the rest of the summer.

Disclaimer: Well, what J. K. Rowling doesn ’ t know is that I have secretly purchased Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy for my own twisted kinky pleasure using the Malfoy-black fortune combined … She only owns the others! * back to the 3-some now * … Summery: When Voldemort goes to kill James and Lily Potter, Lucius Malfoy and Severus Snape accompany him. Why kill your enemy when you can have a friend raise them to covet you? Why not! What happens to the ‘ Golden Boy ’ … now that he ’ s the bad guy? Can he be redeemed? Will he want to be, even after he knows the truth? Rating: R/NC-17 eventually. SLASH!! A/N: Some spoilers for all three films … Because I don ’ t remember the books well enough LOL! Changed to fit the first few chapters. XXX

Jack Kilby, the inventor of the integrated circuit, passed away on Monday. The current chairman of Texas Instruments, where Kilby worked and built the first integrated circuit in 1958, likened him to Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and the Wright Brothers and, frankly, that accolade is deserved. Where are the great dreamers and inventors of our current time? We are frighteningly short of Jack Kilbys, Henry Fords and Wright Brothers these days.

Hee! You 're right, the BBC kids Doctor Who forum is hysterical. Christopher Eccleston is great. He sucks for leaving, but David Tennant sucks more for existing. I love kissing. Kissing is cool. I wish someone would kiss me. Someone like Christopher Eccleston. I wish I was Billie Piper. Where he hell is Captain Jack? He's even hotter than Chris.

Ok, ok. I think I'll have to go see this widely loved "Batman Begins" movie. Mostly because I did nt realize that it was based in Chicago (with a few alterations... I heard the "L" was 3 stories or something? But they do a huge chase scene down Wacker Dr.). That makes it cool enough for me to go spend money and see it in the theaters I think;) ..... Aaaand Vince Vaughn is in town filming a movie. Yesterday he was seen just strolling down Michigan Ave talking to random people. Ooo. I think I must go stalk him :). Its a movie with Jennifer Aniston (ironically) about divorce. Do nt care much about Jennifer Aniston, but Vince!: Dtime to get to my loooverly morning commute...

Two men. Ten marriages between them. Here's the Father's Day Note of the Week: Something called the National Father's Day Council named Larry King and Donald Trump two of its three fathers of the year. According to the New York Post, selection committee chairman Rich Wurtzburger said King and Trump had shown "great dedication to raising their families.''King has been married seven times, Trump three. And as the Post pointed out, Trump had three young children when he had an affair with Marla Maples in the'80s. That's the kind of Dad-like example we want to set for the rest of America!

Turned on the TV in time to catch the last 20 minutes of Spaceballs. * sniff * I need to go rent it now so I can watch the whole thing. WHEN IS MOLLY GETTING HOME? grr. I was up until like 2: 30 last night reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. Amazingly cool book. Like Harry Potter for grownups, or mixed with Winter's Tale. And you all know what I think of Winter's Tale. * wibble*in further efforts to get me out of the house, my mom wants me to volunteer at the South Side Film Festival. Sadly, she has totally failed to notice that it ended two days ago. If we'd thought of it a week ago, I'd've loved to do something. Oh, well. I need to go scrounge spare change. I
