A few days ago Republican Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and his White House allies realized how firm the Democrats were willing to stand in their opposition to John Bolton, Bush's nominee to be the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Joseph Biden, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, had refused to end debate on Bolton until the Senate received intelligence intercepts that would tell whether the Bush nominee manipulated intelligence on Syria and tried to get a number of analysts fired because they didn't arrive at conclusions Bolton wanted. Two days ago Biden helped lead the blocking of Bolton on the Senate floor, and asked once again for the White House to hand over the documents.

But as I got older, I started to realize something - Billy Corgan is a total flake. The realization started to dawn on me around the time of Mellon Collie, actually, but remained nothing but a persistent worry until MACHINA/The Machines of God was released and removed all doubt - yes, Billy Corgan is a total flake.

In an interview published on Time magazine's website Sunday, CIA Director Porter Goss recently said he has an "excellent" idea where Osama bin Laden is hiding, sparking fresh speculation in the media and among analysts as to why the US hasn't yet captured or killed the Al Qaeda leader.

In updating the classic Disney franchise “ Herbie, ” the production has wisely hipped up this latest installment with a little Lindsay Lohan, NASCAR, and a lot of CG Volkswagen Beetle antics. The pacing is a smidge off, but there ’ s fun to be had with “ Herbie: Fully Loaded ” for those patient enough.

We are disappointed that the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has chosen to yet again distort the science behind human-caused climate change and global warming in their recent editorial "Kyoto By Degrees" (6/21/05) (subscription required).

I have some good news... For those that are interested, Pink Floyd will be getting back together for a concert in England. The thing about this is that Roger Waters will be joining the rest of the gang... this makes me a very happy Floyd fan. Let's hope that a new album and a worldwide tour happens afterwards

Today Summer has finally arrived in Washington state officially anyway. The weather has been nice and dry. I even enjoyed my pool yesterday for a bit. It's thundering right now, so I don't know about today, but I'm happy to welcome Summer officially. Tonight is to be the big "Runaway Bride" interview with perky Katie Couric. Jennifer Wilbanks got sentenced to do community service for lying about being kidnapped. O.J. Simpson is acquitted for killing his wife and her friend. Robert Blake is acquitted for killing his wife. Michael Jackson is acquitted for repeatedly molesting young boys and Martha Stewart? She goes to prison for lying to the Feds. I guess it's OK to kill your mate and molest children, but don't you dare lie about insider trading to the Federal Government!

Under Social Security Administration policy, which goes beyond federal privacy law, such information can not typically be shared with law enforcement officials unless the subject has been indicted or convicted of a crime. The loosening of the policy was updated and reauthorized last year, the internal documents show, and Social Security officials said Tuesday that it remained in place.

Rep. John Conyers of Michigan last week held an unofficial public briefing -- despite being forced into a tiny Capitol Hill basement by GOP leaders -- to talk about the so-called Downing Street Memo. The July 2002 memo, published in the Times of London May 1, recounted the views of top advisors to Prime Minister Tony Blair that the Bush administration had already made up its mind to invade Iraq despite an absence of justification, and that it appeared facts were being manipulated to support the policy.

- and finally i hope i wasn't the only one to watch the AFI Tribute to George Lucas. it was great. the opening with Shatner was priceless. Carrie Fisher going off was hilarious and seeing her and Mark and Harrison together was just fantastic. Lucas is a visionary. It's one thing to make movies people like, he did more, he changed the WAY they were made. Along the way he made tales that will keep the children inside us all alive forever.

Today was a long day at work. I was schedule changed from going in at 10: 30am to going in at 6: 30am which is fine, if I got to leave after an eight hour day, but that really didn't happen. I was also in a very not so nice mood. I am just over what is going on, however I really do not know what to do about it. UGHI think a little of the reason that I was in a not so nice mood is because I am sore from working out. However, I need to get to the gym in the morning!! Well I hope everyone that reads this has an amazing day!!

When I first heard that veteran comedian Robert Klein had a new book out, I rushed to get a copy. After all, this man, along with George Carlin and Second City pal David Steinberg among others, charted the new comedic territory of the early 1970s. They followed other greats like Mort Sahl, Shelley Berman, Jonathan Winters, Woody Allen and Bill Cosby -- just to name a few. If you don't know these names, do yourself a favor and get acquainted, because there might have been no Saturday Night Live nor Second City Television, no Steve Martin nor Blues Brothers without Mr. Klein & Co.

< A HREF = "http: // powerlineblog.com/archives/010801.php" > Powerline has a post today on Douglas Wood </A >, the kidnapped civilian who had been held by terrorists in Iraq and was freed by Iraqi troops. Once freed, Mr. Wood apologized for calling (under extreme duress) for the removal of coalition troops from Iraq. John Hinderaker's take is basically the same as < A HREF = "http: // christnu.org/2005/06/index.php? p = 0620050705" > ours from yesterday morning </A >: Pleas at gunpoint don't mean much, and the media should stop acting as if they do. < P > UPDATE (6/22): The Corner at National Review Online has a < A HREF = "http: // corner.nationalreview.com/05 _ 06 _ 19 _ corner-archive. asp # 066859" > post on the apology </A > today.
