London under terrorist attackthere have been bombs at Liverpool Street Station, Kings Cross, Aldgate East, Russell Square, Edgeware Road, Moorgate and a bomb on a bus on Tavistock Square. All occurred between about 9 and 10am. Numbers of casualties unreported but bound to be significant. This pattern of time-coordinated multiple hits is a hallmark of alqaida, but no one has claimed responsibility. Remains of explosives have been found at one of the sites, which should shed light on possible perpetrators. London transport is completely paralyzed; city brought to a standstill. I have lots of friends who live and/or work in central London. Say a prayer!

The London transport system has been suspended. It is impossible to get into London via public transport, and it is advised not to travel at all, but to phone the casualty hotline if you are concerned.

at least 7 blasts have gone off in london.. terrorist attacks on the public transportation system there. anywhere from 2-20 dead depending on which report or channel i flip to.he'll fly back to the G-8 summit later tonight. Not like it will matter much though.. half the countries, including the USA and Canada are shirking their promises as of late and it just doesn't look like all the hopes everyone had for this summit will come true. Not the best way to start off a day..

“ We warned the British government and the British people repeatedly. We have carried out our promise and carried out a military attack in Britain after great efforts by the heroic mujahedeen over a long period to ensure its success. ”

I'm not an expert in security, but it seems ridiculous to me to raise the US terrorist alert level to orange for US mass transit. Why just transit systems? Because they hit the London transit system they might hit ours? Based on what?

Johnny Depp, who stars in director Tim Burton's upcoming Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, told SCI FI Wire that he actually did double duty with Burton in London during filming. While shooting Charlie, based on Roald Dahl's beloved children's book, Depp was also voicing the character of Victor in Burton's stop-motion animated movie Corpse Bride.

Name Ten Celebrities You Find Attractive 1.) Karl Urban. (Especially when he's in a wig. Must have the blonde wig and facial hair for full hotness quotient to be fulfilled.) 2.) Ewan Mcgregor. (Prefer brunette EM, but will settle for Obi-wan red or blonde.) 3.) Carrie-anne Moss.4.) Brad Pitt. (And I'm really late to the party on this one, because I didn't really find him attractive until Ocean's 11.) 5.) Angelina Jolie. 6.) Diana Rigg. 7.) Harrison Ford.8.) Pierce Brosnan. I'm going to hold off on # 9 and 10, because I'm drawing a blank, and I'm sure that as soon as I post this, I'll remember who I'm forgetting...

Bad: Racing Around France If I wanted to watch a guy win a race every year I'd watch Grand Prix auto racing. But if you think I'm bored of Michael Schumacher just imagine how the French feel about Monsieur Jaune. It's just a very unfortunate turn of events. Lance Armstrong came to dominate the Tour de France at the very moment in history when all of the nations of the Earth joined in agreement on one thing: that they are sick of Americans. I wish we could just leave the Tour de France to the Europeans. I think it's bad form to dominate sporting events while your diplomatic position is slipping. Maybe we should start something of our own, over here. A race, perhaps around a Piazza, with bareback horses named "Madonna". It could be a tradition.

Twenty-four years ago today, on July 7, 1981, President Ronald Reagan nominated Sandra Day O'connor, an Arizona court of appeals judge, to be the first woman Supreme Court justice in U.S. history. On September 21, the Senate unanimously approved her appointment to the nation's highest court, and on September 25 she was sworn in by Chief Justice Warren Burger. W: 129.5Y ea! Just squeeking below 130. But it makes me feel better. Dinner has now consisted of salads and light healthy stuff. I hate eating a big meal at dinner so this will work well. I still haven't exercised this week, not even walks at work. Tonight I'm going to try to fix my bike and maybe take a ride. It's so relaxing anyway and I need to get my body back in gear. It feels all out of wack. I must keep in mind Jessica Alba. She's got a great and muscular body. Plus my husband thinks she's hot so it wouldn't hurt to try to be like her. Not so much for him but me.

You scored as Dorian Gray. You are the immortal, narcissistic bachelor from Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray. Your physical beauty is matchless and your reputation, spotless. Meanwhile, your portrait suffers continual disfiguration as you pursue a secret life of debauchery, revealing the true content of your damnable soul.

Police: At least 2 killed At least four near simultaneous explosions rocked London's subway system and a passenger bus today, killing several people and injuring at least 160 in what Prime Minister Tony Blair said was an apparent terror attack. The blasts coincide with a meeting of G8 leaders in Scotland. FULL STORY Damn. DAMN. You all are alright, yes? Please say yes, cause I'm a worrier. Europe's on a state of alert, and they 're talking about how three of the blasts were in the subway, and there are so many dead down there but they can't get to them yet. Oh gods. How am I supposed to work today?

One conclusion our data suggests is that those justices often considered more “ liberal ” - Justices Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, David Souter and John Paul Stevens - vote least frequently to overturn Congressional statutes, while those often labeled “ conservative ” vote more frequently to do so.

A series of deadly explosions ripped through the London subway system early Thursday (July 7) morning during rush hour, killing at least two people and injuring nearly 100. Police quickly shut down the entire subway system and evacuated all stations following what were reportedly six or seven explosions, which also included a double-decker bus that was torn apart by a bomb in Central London.

Like many other bloggers this week, I've discovered that accused rapist/murderer Joseph Duncan has been maintaining a blog for more than a year. Duncan is accused of murdering the family of eight-year-old Shasta Groene, then kidnapping and raping her and her brother before killing him as well. Reading over the blog entries, it's clear that he's had a lot to say about being an accused sexual predator in a variety of cases. To call the entries disturbing doesn't do it justice. It's truly horrifying.

Hard to know what to say. Feels like intruding on private grief, but London is my capital city too. A city I love, regularly visit and have many colleagues and friends there. Synchronised attacks are the trademark of Al-quaeda, and there are reports that they've claimed responsibility. It seems a reasonable assumption. Incredible Flickr coverage: London Explosions Pool, London Bomb Blasts Pool. BBC News 24 is doing a great job, and Indymedia UK is predictably disgusting. Wow, this really hurts.

Stage 5 was another long, boring flat course. A few cyclists rabbit out in front, and near the end the peloton swallows them up again. Much mad sprinting at the end -- even through a 90-degree street corner turn only 500 meters from the finish -- and Robbie Mcewen just barely edges out Tom Boonen to win the stage. Much grandstanding by Mcewen after winning, to show the judges that they couldn't keep him down. But Boonen still has the green jersey, and Armstrong still has the yellow. Mcewen knows that the time penalty given to him by the judges is probably not something he can overcome to get back into contention. But he fights on.
