Well, I finished "Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince" last night. I was, needless to say, shocked. However, in fairness to those who haven't read it, I will elaborate in a long cut below (last time I wrote something about HP, Dan jumped on me for revealing to him Sirius's death... ooops...).

Jen called and we talked for a looong time on the phone. I knew it was going to be a great day from then on. called and we went out for teriyaki and saw Wedding Crashers. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson were both great. After the movie I decided I deserved some shopping with the birthday money from my grandma. At Borders I picked up a few books. Just what I needed, I know. Eventually I will get to them. Can't wait to watch my Tindersticks dvd from !!!! Next weekend the celebration continues down in Portland. Should be a good time. Apparently I am still 25. Works for me! The best news I heard today was that American Gothic is supposedly being released this October on dvd !!!!! FINALLY! That is one of my favorite shows of all time.

The Brazilian Government has asked Celso Amorim, Brazil's Foreign Minister, to ask the Government of British Prime Minister Tony Blair to explain why Brazilian electrician Jean Charles de Menezes, 27, was executed by a British policeman on the morning of July 22, 2005 aboard a train at the Stockwell station in south London.

Surprised nobody's posted about this yet. So, I will. LOS ANGELES -- James Doohan, the burly chief engineer of the Starship Enterprise in the original "Star Trek" TV series and motion pictures who responded to the command "Beam me up, Scotty," died early Wednesday. He was 85. http: // www.wilwheaton.net/mt/archives/003331. phpspock was always my personal favorite on the original series, but Scotty was a close second. While I tended to relate to Spock (bookish little kid that I was) I remember laughing more at his character, rooting for his character, and appreciating his character more than any of the others. Safe travels in the final frontier, Scotty. (Yeah, I know that was cheesy.)

LONDON, July 24 – The Brazilian electrician who has been innocently shot on Friday has been identified as 27 year old Jean Charles de Menezes. Although apologizing for this horrible event Metropolitan police commissioner Ian Blair defended the shoot-to-kill policy as the only way to stop suicide bombers. De Menezes left a building that has been under observation since Tuesday and headed for Stockwell station while acting suspiciously and wearing a heavy padded coat while it was pretty hot outside. Plain-clothed policemen then followed him into the station and shot him in the head and torso five times in front of passing by passengers.

I am beginning to read The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. I am quite curious about the hubbub around it. Hopefully it will not suck. I have recently picked up the first 10 books in the Left Behind series and that will likely be my next read.

The Rupert Everett Sherlock Holmes movie is on ABC tonight. It got mixed reviews in the papers, and on IMDB people don't seem to like it, but I'm enjoying it. Here's the IMDB listing for the movie: Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Silk Stocking It's not a Conan-doyle story, which is pretty clear, since they can talk about sex. Mr Everett gives good Holmes, campy but complex. I like the incredibly repressed Edwardian upper class, and the upstairs/downstairs drama. It had everything: sex, drugs, Freudian analysis, club feet and a tableau of pretty girls for the King. Also, Holmes/Watson is hot. Here's the summary, to remind me to go and read some more. Hello all. Am delurking to post my first Dorian Gray fic; hope you enjoy! Title: After-hoursauthor: Alexa Dpairing: Basil/Dorian-ishrating: Rsummary: What exactly did Basil mean by putting too much of himself into Dorian ’ s portrait? Pre-novel. Disclaimer: I ’ m pretty sure The Picture of Dorian Gray is in the public domain, but in any case, do you really think Oscar Wilde would care? Comments: Believe it or not, this was indirectly inspired by an episode of “ Sesame Street ”. (Yes, I am going to hell) It involved painting, and just the thought of painting set off this train of thought that had a stop in the house of some painter in Victorian London whilst he was contemplating his work in progress. Let ’ s look in, shall we? Ficlet: After-hours (x-posted from wildefic)

Ganked from Eternalynumbi think it's inevitable that as we read each other's journals we create mental pictures of each other. Post this on your own journal to find out who your friends see when they read about your life. Two Rules: 1. The person must be in the movies, a musician, or on TV (but doesn't have to be an actor/actress). The person can be specific to a role (e.g. Jennifer Ehle's Elizabeth Bennet) or just the person themself.2. You have to post a link to a picture of said person (or their defining'ass'ets) in the comments.

So, I was watching the latest (?) BMW movie yesterday, and seriously? Gary Oldman asking Clive Owen, "You don't like girls, do you?" and then saying, "You don't know what you 're missing." It was just too funny for words. Anyway, the week looks like this: M: offt: 11-5W: Noyesth: 7am meeting at WF followed by Noyesf: 11-5S: 11-5su: 11: 30-5: 30I think. Something like that, at any rate.

Yeah, so, I'm back. Did you know I was gone? Not really? That's great. Not much happened, really. I was visiting family, so I got to bombard my cousin with music and discuss plans to go to Coachella 2006 and the Ashland Shakeapeare Festival. Swam at a pool, swam at a beach. Got bruises on my legs and ass. Went outlet shopping, got a pair of sneakers (purple and silver ♥) and cute little slide-type shoes (blue and brown). Aerosoles are so comfy it's amazing. Also a couple of shirts and some sunglasses. Got a distinct craving for Alan Rickman, so we watched Robin Hood, Prince Of Theives, fast-forwarding through all the parts with Kevin Costner. Because nobody likes him. And that's it. Just about. I need to see everyone this week, I'd really like to. Call my effing cell phone. ♥

Yes. Prof. Sabato, “ interesting ” is one way to describe things. Another would be “ Kilgore ’ s goin ’ down, but just like the passengers on the Titanic right after it hit the iceberg, he doesn ’ t quite realize it yet! ” Sorry to gloat a wee bit here, but just ten months ago, Mason-dixon had Kilgore 5 points ahead of Kaine. So, this is sweet news indeed, albeit unsurprising: as Virginia voters have tuned in and gotten to know Jerry Kilgore, they have NOT liked what they have seen. Big surprise In contrast, Virginia voters are warming strongly to the moderate, responsible Tim Kaine, and also to Russ Potts for that matter, as they reject the politics of division, extremism, and racial code language (a “ blast from the past, ” in a really bad way that is) offered by the Kilgore campaign.
