I don't care what anyone says about Florida and the heat and the hurricanes... this is the ONLY place in the world where you can watch the space shuttle launch from your backyard. Godspeed, Discovery.

i guess it's not completely awesome, but i got my grade for o-chem today. it's not fantastic, but it's better than i thought, and at least i am done with that class... forever!! woo-hoo!! and... i think i found a place to live, and i am leaving for sunny califoh-nia by the end of the week. now, i just need to pack, find a place to store my stuff, and psyche myself up for a 17-mile bear-laden hike. also, please subject yourself to wedding crashers. i promise the disappointment will be non-existant. as long as you keep an open mind. and you 're somewhat familiar with owen wilson, vince vaughn and will ferell.

the Cutting Edge (60% dark, 43% spontaneous, 27% vulgar) your humor style: CLEAN | SPONTANEOUS | Darkyour humor's mostly innocent and off-the-cuff, but somehow there's something slightly menacing about you. Part of your humor is making people a little uncomfortable, even if the things you say aren't in and of themselves confrontational. You probably have a very dry delivery, or are seriously over-the-top. Your type is the most likely to appreciate a good insult and/or broken bone and/or very very fat person dancing. PEOPLE LIKE YOU: David Letterman - John Belushi Odd... that sounds a lot like me...

Just saw the latest Daily Show on Comedy Central, and boy, Rick Santorum just makes your skin crawl. Jon Stewart was pointed but polite with questions, logical questions regarding Santorum ’ s homophobic views, and Santorum kept implying that homosexuals harm children. He ’ s such a pig. Stewart tried politely to confront him, but as per his policy of having civil conversations with everyone, even loathesome bigots, he didn ’ t press Santorum hard on his inconsistencies.

Thinking about the terrible shooting of Brazilian electrician Jean Charles de Menezes, shot to death in London by police who mistook him for a suicide bomber, recalls some rules of intelligence and analysis that we should always keep in mind:

Found this: ----------- Producer Mark Gordon and music producer Pharrell Williams will bring VOLTRON: DEFENDER OF THE UNIVERSE to the big screen. It will be based on the TV series that ran in the 80's. The story centers on five maverick explorer-pilots who must travel to the planet Arus to learn how to operate Voltron, a giant mechanical warrior formed by five smaller robots.

Last Friday I watched The Island, the new sci-fi action flick starring Ewan Mcgregor and Scarlett Johansson and directed by Michael Bay. I don't have time this week to offer a detailed analysis, but suffice it to say that it's pretty bad.

I went to ozzfest yesterday on a last-minute whim with my brother. I was convinced to go for rob zombie, and we just barely missed him play. but, I suppose iron maiden and black sabbath made up for everything.http: // members.tripod.com/sekhmets _ psyche/id8. html makes me cry because I realize it's all just a fucking pattern with him. I know i just need to get over it. I just wish I could hear his voice to make everything settle into place.

The Redwalls - They were good, teh first band we saw. They rip off of the Beatles and Oasis a lot. And you will know us by the trail of dead - I only watched a little bit, they had two drummers it was cool. Kaiser Chiefs - Rock n Roll Dashboard Confessional - He was playing across the field while we were waiting for cake. CAKE - Amazing, best show I've ever seen. I can't explain how good this was. Blonde Redhead - Awesome live, cool samples. Billy Idol - Played across the field while we were waiting for Primus, it was awesome to hear him play white wedding. Primus - Crazy amounts of people tripping on some crazy stuff. Pixies - Played across the field again, Sounded amazing. Weezer - rocked the house.

"So what is shown on the 87 photographs and four videos from Abu Ghraib prison that the Pentagon, in an eleventh hour move, blocked from release this weekend? One clue: Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told Congress last year, after viewing a large cache of unreleased images:'I mean, I looked at them last night, and they 're hard to believe. ” They show acts'that can only be described as blatantly sadistic, cruel and inhumane,'he added.

New DVD Releases for this week... + DVD: DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE ‘ Drive Well, Sleep Carefully ’ ON SALE $19.98 * Hopefully I'm in the backround sexing Ben Kweller at the show with DCFC that was rained out. I'm so not, but what an unfortunate/wonderful experience. At PA the other day I got a live Rilo Kiley EP and it is very good. Of course. Tonight/today was good... Steak and shake with my love, baby penguins!, Mcd parking lot with Madi and Patricia and people. Plus I talked to Erin and Sean has skin disease of love! My skin is gross too though.

The special election, to be held one week from today, will fill a seat in the U.S. House vacated by Republican Rob Portman, who's now serving as the U.S. trade representative. And Paul Hackett is not just a war hero; he's also a real progressive alternative to his right-wing opponent, Jean Schmidt.

I had heard about Tom Hanks, but not Audrey Tatou, starring in the Ron Howard movie production of Dan Brown ’ s ridiculously successful book The Da Vinci Code. That will be an interesting pair.

Japanese + Advertising = RAIN SPAM. Also, New York State Attorney General issues C + D to Sony Music, who've been bribing radio stations to play Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Good Charlotte, Avril Lavigne, and other no-talent crap that no radio stations would play for free. Speaking of untalented mass-produced morons, Ricky Martin has learned the hard way that wearing a kaffiyeh with "Jerusalem is ours" written on it in Arabic is probably not the best move when you 're trying to promote peace and unity. In Montana, model sheep are being vandalised because "sheep are evil and destroying our country." No, really. Want to hear what Saturn sounds like? It's transmitting radio.

If you 're interested in who the GOP should nominate in 2008, head over to Patrick Ruffini's place to vote in his straw poll. Over 8,000 votes cast already! The candidates on his rather limited ballot are Rudy Giuliani, George Allen, John Mccain, Mitt Romney, and Bill Frist (the tally so far should not encourage the Frist camp).

I'd recommend the movie to anybody who likes the offbeat comedy. Bill Murray is fantastic, as always, and the movie is full of the strange otherworldly vibe that Wes Anderson specializes in. The touches of detail throughout the movie (look for the poster of Bill Murray running with the tigers) and goofy one-offs still have me chuckling to myself (I can still hear Willem Dafoe saying, in a German accent, "He's got hydrogen psychosis, the crazy-eye!")

The Machinist Christian Bale is amazing but this movie isn't. He's the only thing that works, the writing is horrible, pacing doesn't work. The ending tries to have a twist and by that time I just didn't give a shit. He lost weight for no reason, this movie wasn't worth that kind of dedication. Beautifully shot though. Closer This movie pisses me off because the actors, as excellent as they are, (except Julia Roberts that manly bitch) all seemed really fake. Clive Owen plays the asshole/alpha male beautifully though. Motorcycle Diaries Beautiful movie. I would have liked to see him interact with more people, because you get a little bit of a sense of how his traveling shaped his revolutionary thought but much of the political aspect has been left out of the film.

In other news, I'm all excited because the BBC posted pictures of David Tennant (and Billie Piper, of course) in costume today. I'm rather pleased. His new outfit is a bit more Doctorish than Eccleston's leather jacket, I think. Very young Oxford professor-ish. Very Gervase Fen. They also announced today that Stephen Fry will be writing an episode (as had been strongly rumoured) and that Anthony Stewart Head will be guest starring in an episode. So happiness all'round there.: D
