In 2002, the El Paso Corporation, one of President Bush's largest donors, (info here and here) petitioned the Forest Service to lease the eastern 40,000 acres of the Valle for coalbed methane (CBM) development. Last summer (2004), the Forest Service released its Reasonable Foreseeable Development Scenario (RFDS). The scenario predicted only enough natural gas to supply the nation with about 11 hours of gas at 2003 consumption rates.

John Kerry on the Bush Administration during speech at Brown University. "Katrina is a symbol of all this administration does and doesn't do. Michael Brown... is to Katrina what Paul Bremer is to peace in Iraq; what George Tenet is to slam dunk intelligence; what Paul Wolfowitz is to parades paved with flowers in Baghdad; what Dick Cheney is to visionary energy policy; what Donald Rumsfeld is to basic war planning; what Tom Delay is to ethics; and what George Bush is to" Mission Accomplished "and" Wanted Dead or Alive. "The bottom line is simple: The" we'll do whatever it takes "administration doesn't have what it takes to get the job done." This is the Katrina administration. "Where was this about this time last year?

I... I think I broke myself. I just watched Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. I... There are no words. NO WORDS.M y jaw is still dropped. My heart is still beating. Tears are still in my eyes. I have... I have never in my life seen anything like this movie. I'm not even a Final Fantasy VII fangirl. Never finished the game. But this movie. I won't spoil any plot or anything for any one. It's the beautiful thing I've ever seen, just by looks alone. The action is art. The whole movie is a work of art. The music is just... They play a rock metal remix of my favorite Final Fantasy VII song. ROCK METAL.O kay, I will say more, BUT.

I want you to take me out! I am glad to have happy thoughts occupying my mind. I'd much rather think about silly crushes than the two prelims I have in a week and how I have an astro paper due tomorrow and then three full problem sets due as usual between Thurs. and Friday. Even if nothing comes out of this, I think it will be quite amusing, for you and even for me, to watch me awkwardly try and woo someone... fuck the wooing, just trying to hold a conversation for more than five minutes should be entertaining. Forget your Blind Date and Matchmaker and other reality TV shows, now this is entertainment people!! PS: I didn't draw him very well in that final panel. I'll have to work on that... or not because I wouldn't want to give the person away now would I?!

North Korea has pledged to abandon its nuclear program in exchange for energy aid. Remember when Jimmy Carter got them to do that before? That time when Bill Clinton threatened to invade the country if they didn ’ t renounce nuclear weapons? When Kim Il-sung pledged to give up his weapons program in return for nuclear reactors and food and oil?

Dear Jon Stewart, I love The Daily Show. It's one of the funniest shows on TV. I'm not the only one who thinks so either. But just because you 're now wildly popular doesn't mean that you can constantly take vacation time. It looks like you 're back tomorrow, and I'm excited about that, but it's still not cool that you 're gone today. Especially since lately it feels like I'm just as likely to get a rerun as I am to get a first run. Please come back and stop leaving. Much love, Dinah

i still haven't seen the new willy wonka (or, charlie & the chocolate factory (true to the book title) as it was called this time) but i haven't heard very good things. that's ok though, b/c the nightmare before christmas & big fish were really all i could ever need to know tim burton's a genius. i'm looking forward to the corpse bride, but i'm a little nervous it might not live up to "nightmare before christmas" and, as a result, kind of suck. we shall see...

John, one of the big football fans who hangs out with everyone in the quad, was with us as we watched the Redskins versus the Cowboys. Up until the 30 - and 70-yard passes to Santana Moss, Mark Brunell was sucking so bad. We were jumping up and down at the possibility that he was injured when he got his face slammed into the ground. John noted that Helen Keller had Brunell beat for three straight seasons in fantasy football. Aside from the passes mentioned, I'm inclined to believe him. All in all, good times are being had. Other than that, go and read up about Trusted Computing and why you should oppose it, at http: // www.againsttcpa.com/. Till later.

Before you buy a car, find out what it will cost to insure it. Get car insurance quotes and calculate your insurance needs on the Internet. Each state has different requirements when it comes to auto insurance, and we'll leave it up to you to learn what your state requires. But every state has some sort of financial responsibility law that says you need to take care of any accidents you might have.

– Such a shame Hugh “ Dr. House ” Laurie did not win best dramatic actor (I suspect that the nomination of HBO ’ s “ Deadwood ” actor - also a Brit doing an American accent - cancelled out the Hugh Laurie nomination). Don ’ t quite understand why that award went to James Spader, while his colleague William Shatner won the best supporting actor - their work on ABC ’ s “ Boston Legal ” wasn ’ t that strong in my mind.

The person in front of my desk listens to Power 97 all day. I've noticed that just about every lead singer in the newer bands sound like Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam. A while back, I thought Creed and Nickelback were the only ones doing their best imitation, but there are WAAYYY more now. It's like they 're all doing really bad country music singer impersonations or some times even Elvis Presley. After a while, they even start to sound like Cher fercrissakes! So where am I going with this? They all suck! That's where!

According to a completely crazy liberal web blog site I read for a few good laughs, the real reason that New Orleans was struck down by Hurricane Katrina was because God was "punishing the city for hosting a gay festival this month" Well, I hate to break it to Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and James Dobson but most of the fags who live in and around New Orleans could afford to evacuate the city before God's wrath flushed them away. So I would like to thank Tyrone, Shaniqua, and Lafawnda for picking up the slack on that one. Thanks for taking one for the team... now the only question is, what team?

Listening to old music that you never previously engaged in is like finding gifts from the past, locked in a time capsule for you to discover and enjoy. This is my experience with Soundgarden. It's weird hearing artists we now know in their previous incarnation. Like I heard a Nirvana song a while ago, and amongst Kobain's tormented growl was Dave Grohl's gentle, sweet melody, and I went "shit, that sounds like the foo fighters". And then at the end of the song, everything stops but Grohl's background singing. It seemed like some odd, cryptic fortelling of what was to come next.

According to a recent article published by the Canyon News, GUNS N'ROSES frontman Axl Rose told a fan in Malibu, California a few weeks ago that the group's long-awaited new album, "Chinese Democracy" will be released early next year. In addition, he allegedly revealed that GUNS N'ROSES are looking to put a new song on "The Da Vinci Code" movie soundtrack. The film (more information), based on Dan Brown's controversial best-selling novel, is currently in production and stars Tom Hanks.

I hear that it is Bush's fault, I hear that it is Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco's fault. The bottom line? They all screwed up. This hoever, should not be the focus in Katrina's aftermath.

Don't get me wrong. I like Paul Krugman. Maureen Dowd is occasionally entertaining, when she isn't preening. Frank Rich is good. But I'll be damned if I'll line the pockets of John Tierney and David Brooks.

For all those forlorn Buffyholics, who have heard about Joss Whedon and his reluctance to be involved with anything television, the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, has told SCI FI Wire that he is planning to revisit the "Buffyverse" in a future, unspecified TV project. "I think it ` s realistic. I like my chances. But it is absolutely still too amorphous for me to make any kind of announcement about it. I ` m out there trying, and there ` s other people trying, to put it together. But until something falls in place, I really can ` t say." Spike movie with James Marsters? Even though Marsters has concerns about his age? "Let ` s say it's a good jumping off point. Well, we 're working. We 're trying. I know.... James is in very good shape. Keep working out, James."

I was an obsessive kid. My sisters... I'm not sure how they spent the money that was given to them. I spent all of my money on comic books, almost solely Superman and Superboy comics. Sometimes I'm still a little surprised when my sisters don't GET something. "Lex Luthor doesn't know Bruce Wayne! How can they be enemies!?"... Oh my God, that nearly killed me. IT 'S DC!!

Jonathan Strange is Love :) I adore the little sideways commentary that sounds so very much like Austen. She's a clever one this Susanna Clarke. Its threatening to rain outside, but hasn't much so far.
