Today is Mara's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Now you are old like me and will eat at places such as Marie Callender's and Mimi's Café. HAHA, just kidding. I have some pictures from work, but don't have time to post them now. I don't know when I will though. It is from the L.A. White Elephant gift exchange, which I didn't attend because it was at night at the office. I am out of there at 3: 30. This weekend I didn't do anything.

I went on a "date" tonight after work. but i think that sounds really corny. It was funny because we drove. 1 miles across the parking lot to Chili's. I learned tonight that i flat out suck at pool. I like Christmas Time for the most part. Although, Some of the attitudes we get at work are just disgusting. I have been working way too much. But the money is going to be good. I ve been working in Starbucks the past few nights. Learning how to make the drinks I love is really awesome. but oh boy, blonde hair blue eyes. Mmmmm.

This was great. James Mcavoy as Mr. Tumnus was great as were Georgie Henley as Lucy and Tilda Swinton as the White Witch. I thought Aslan was handled really well and that Liam Neeson was a perfect choice for his voice. I was also relieved to find out that William Moseley, Peter, is eighteen and I can find him perfectly pretty without any worries! New songs by Alanis Morissette and Imogen Heap are always reasons to celebrate also.

Today's been a bit lazy, went into Sutton to do a bit of shopping with parents, then went to the Nine Lessons and Carols at St. Dunstan's Church in the evening with Mum, saw my Year 6 teacher Mr Dawson after the service and had a chat. That was also fun! Also, mulled wine and warm mince pies win at life.

The Family Stone Meredith Morton (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Everett Stone (Dermot Mulroney) are dating. He decides to bring home his girlfriend for Christmas. The Stones and Meredith have nothing in common. And sister Amy (Rachel Mcadams) is the worst. She hates Meredith. So Meredith calls up her sister, Julie (Claire Danes), to help her get through the holidays. Meanwhile, younger brother Ben Stone (Luke Wilson), falls for Meredith, and gets her drunk. You'll have to see the movie to find out what happens! I liked this movie since it had some good one-liners, and the dynamics of a family seem realistic. It's bound to become a holiday classic, and I can't wait to see what it does. Ebert and Roeper's rating: two thumbs up. Out.

"Ang Lee recounted in several interviews that when Michelle Williams needed to film a scene in which her character is devastated to discover that her husband is involved with another man, she asked Heath Ledger (her off-screen, as well as on-screen, love interest) and Jake Gyllenhaal to stand off camera and make out for her benefit. Ledger and Gyllenhaal agreed, and when she thought their kissing was not involved enough, she asked them to intensify it." Snort, Yeah, Okay. It was for her "acting" benefit. They can do that for me anytime.

with George Clooney and (you know how to say it) Matt Damon. Another movie that's really powerful and one particular storyline that stays with you is the one about a Muslim teenager who gets laid off from his job at an oil field because of a merger.

Jack Layton is coming to my work this morning. Talking about some senior related issues. He gets here at 11: 00 a.m. this morning! I'll run down to see him talk. Bad part is that I look really bad today. Oh well. Paul Martin comes to see us on January 9th. So far, that's it on the election train.

You are the fabulously quirky and independent woman of character. You go your own way, follow your own drummer, take your own lead. You stand head and shoulders next to your partner, but you are perfectly willing and able to stand alone. Others might be more classically beautiful or conventionally woman-like, but you possess a more fundamental common sense and off-kilter charm, making interesting men fall at your feet. You can pick them up or leave them there as you see fit. You share the screen with the likes of Spencer Tracy and Cary Grant, thinking men who like strong women.

At year's end, it is often useful to look back at the year past and seek to learn its lessons. But it's more useful now, I think, to look back at the past quarter century. Twenty-five years ago, in December 1980, Jimmy Carter was serving his last full month in office and Ronald Reagan was president-elect. More than 50 Americans were being held hostage in Iran -- an act of war by the revolutionary mullahs. The Soviet Union was on the march in Afghanistan. The American economy was finishing a decade of high inflation and sluggish growth at best -- stagflation. The past three presidents had been repudiated: Richard Nixon in 1974, Gerald Ford in 1976, and Jimmy Carter 1980.

As a result of the investigations, Congress in 1978 passed the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which stated in black and white what the NSA could and could not do. To overcome the NSA's insistence that its activities were too secret to be discussed before judges, Congress created a special federal court, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, to hear requests for warrants for national security eavesdropping. In case the court ever turned down an NSA request, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Appeals Court was created. It has never heard a case.

Crap. I set the VCR to tape "The Christmas Blessing" with Neil Patrick Harris on CBS tonight, and somehow it only taped the first hour. If anyone could help me (like if you taped it or know where I could find it) I would be so happy. I am such an idiot sometimes.

IRAN PRESIDENT BANS WESTERN Musiciranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has banned Western and "indecent" music from state-run TV and radio stations. The ban follows a ruling in October by the Supreme Cultural Revolutionary Council, which he heads, to ban Western songs from the airwaves. "Blocking indecent and Western music from the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting is required," a statement from the council said. Songs by artists such as Eric Clapton and George Michael will be affected.

This time of year is like my personal sports season: it's oscar season, and the games are critics top ten lists and smaller awards and whatnot. So I've been excitedly watching these Oscar indicators, and I'm thrilled to see King Kong on 2/3 LA Times top ten lists (1 2), 1/2 of the AP critics'top ten lists, and on the American Film Institute and Roger Ebert's top ten lists; plus, it was nominated for best picture by the London Film Critics. This reaffirms my belief that my favorite movie of the year will be nominated for Best Picture. Yeah, I'm a loser. Continuing the loser-ness, expect my own top-10 lists to be popping up to bore or enrage you soon. I'll come up with my top ten albums of the year soon; my top ten movies will have to wait til I see Match Point and Munich.
