"Speaking of losing, how'bout them Grits up in Canada eh? In only a few days, the Great White North is expected to finally shake off the chains of politically correct Trudeaupian Liberal Party rule and elect Stephen Harper and his Conservative Party. I must say it's been an absolute hoot watching Prime Minister Paul Martin steer his campaign unerringly onto every single rock available. In some cases he had to go miles out of his way to find ever more creative ways to sabotage his own party, but he did it every single time. Whatever the Conservatives are paying him, they 're getting their money's worth.

The first player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 weird habits of yours" and people who get tagged (selected) need to write an LJ entry about their 5 quirky habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names.1. Saying the worst thing at the right time (I know but don't care) 2. Do a really weird hyperventilaty laugh uncontrollably (Laughing is fun) 3. Reading books in a day (usually at the expense of homework and/or cleaning my room or the like) 4. Paranoia (yea... i'm all like. i'm gon na fail at life but whatever. who cares) 5. Making absolutely no sense what so ever and not trying to clarify myself (why should i?) I must say that "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" is a fantastic movie. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are great in it; they deliver very natural and multi faceted performances. It's a great, hilarious, and smart script. The soundtrack is amazing and really adds to the humour. It's an overall fun, witty, and enjoyable movie. The only downfall is that the ending is abrupt. I think it needed about 5 more minutes to tie things up. I just don't understand why this movie got such lukewarm reviews - and I don't understand whe reviewers said that Jolie and Pitt had no chemistry on screen - they worked fantastically with each other, perfectly even. A thoroughly enjoyable film, I would even buy it.

I like... just came home from Ben's party! * _ * It was pretty cool, although it was just Ben, me, Lauren, and Teresa. We watched Ben play old school videogames, and then we watched part of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and all of A Midsummer Night's Dream. While eating tacos and donut holes! And much fun was had. And on the way home, Lauren, her parents and I had a philosophical conversation! * _ * And those are fun. Sometimes I feel like I'm the least interesting person I know. Everyone around me has all these crazy great experiences and they do all these awesome things and I'm just like LUR LUR LUR I 'M RUTHI THERE IS NOTHING INTERESTING ABOUT ME AT ALL!!! And I wonder if others feel that was about me, too. But I don't know.

You 're a happy person - you have a good amount of self-esteem, and are socially healthy. While this isn't a social dysfunction per se, you 're definitely not normal. Consider yourself lucky: you walk that fine line between'normal'and being outright narcissistic. You 're rare - which is something else to be happy about.

Bush now thinks because he obtained authority from Congress to chase down Al Queda and remove Saddam Hussein he has the right to eavesdrop on Americans without first obtaining a warrant by a very efficient legal system for the prompt issuance of a warrant involving national security. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales says of course the right to eavesdrop on Americans was implied when Congress authorized the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Gonzales also found ways for the President to authorize torture of prisoners. This of course allows the enemy to do likewise with American military prisoners.

So I want to go see a movie tonight, but i can't decide between Walk the Line or Glory Road, both starting at 10: 30. I get there, stand in ridiculous credit card machine lines, and finally, deciding on Glory Road (I'm guaranteed to love a basketball movie that takes place in Texas and stars Josh Lucas), I buy the ticket. Except, when the ticket is printed, another comes out with it, for Walk the Line at 10: 30. So... I go see Walk the Line. I figure it was a sign or a repeated opportunity that I just had to follow up on. And I LOVED the movie!!!!! So amazing, I'm buying the soundtrack. Oh, and Joaqin Phoenix is going on my list of celebrities. it is now 6 celebrities I would sleep with.

First, the most obvious --- 1) THEO 'S BACK!!! Suddenly, I feel as if everything will be okay... 2) Bronson Arroyo. As if I didn't need another reason to adore this man, he takes a discounted contract with the Sox -- one that could put him in danger of being traded -- because he loves playing in Boston. After the whole Johnny Damon fiasco, it's nice to see that team loyalty still exists. But loyalty goes both ways -- Bronson said that the Sox told him he wasn't being shopped around. And if they stab him the back and trade him, I will personally lead the torch and pitchfork carrying mob to the Red Sox offices. Well, okay, I won't do that. But I will send e-mails. VERY ANGRY E-MAILS.

Vive la France! "France said on Thursday it would be ready to use nuclear weapons against any state that carried out a terrorist attack against it, reaffirming the need for its nuclear deterrent. Deflecting criticism of France's costly nuclear arms program, President Jacques Chirac said security came at a price and France must be able to hit back hard at a hostile state's centers of power and its" capacity to act. BALTIMORE -- A Maryland judge has struck down the state's law against same-sex marriage, ruling that it violates the state constitution's guarantee of equal rights. The ruling comes in a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of 19 people who were challenging the 33-year-old Maryland law. The judge said that while "tradition and societal values are important," they alone don't justify a law that the judge deems to be "discriminatory." Lawyers for the state say the issue is a matter for the Legislature and not the courts. The ruling is expected to be appealed to Maryland's highest court.

Outgoing and shy, sensitive and thoughtless, you tend to have a very split personality. This makes you unpredictable. You can be a total angel - and a total devil. You are most compatible with: everyone! Famous Type AB's: Jackie Chan and Marilyn Monroe

Look no further for the European sexual decadence than the movie acting categories. The best-actor contest for a drama was a neck-and-neck race between Heath Ledger, playing the gay sheepherder in “ Brokeback Mountain, ” and Philip Seymour Hoffman, playing the gay writer Truman Capote in “ Capote. ” The best-actress nod went to Felicity Huffman for playing a male-to-female transgendered person in “ Transamerica, ” a film presently in nine – count ‘ em, nine – theatres in these United States. Or should she be in the best actor category? Perhaps in the future, we ’ ll have a best Transgendered Performance category.

Via this entry in the Writers Write Writer's Blog, I learned that in a recent videotape, Osama bin Laden has endorsed a book by U.S. author William Blum called Rogue State: A Guide To The World's Only Superpower (amazon.com | amazon.ca). The story was originally covered by Reuters, and quotes bin Laden telling Americans, "It is useful for you to read the book The Rogue State." Sales of Blum's book skyrocketed on Amazon.com, propelling it from a ranking of # 209,000 to # 30 on the website. I laughed when I read the Writer's Blog commentary on the piece:

Most disappointly of all, perhaps, was the embarrassing performance this week of The Washington Post, a paper I once held in high regard. After taking down reader's comments from their blog -- for criticizing the ombudsman, who lied about the Republican crook Abramoff giving money to Democrats -- the executive editor, Jim Brady, goes on the Hugh Hewitt [winger extremist] radio show and says this:

much, and his work with Genesis is undeniable. My only problem with Phil Collins is that I don't think he's the "musical genius" that some people have built him up to be. He's a decent singer, an amazing drummer, (apparently when not drumming for himself, though), and an almost indomitable performer. But as a songwriter? Eh. To place him up against a jury of his peers: Peter Gabriel is an incomparably more talented songwriter, singer, and performer, and even Ray Wilson's last solo outing,

CONCORD, N.H. - Angered by a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that sided with a Connecticut city that wanted to seize homes for economic development, a group of activists is trying to get one of the justices who voted for the decision evicted from his own home. The group, led by a California man, wants Justice David Souter's home seized for the purpose of building an inn called "Lost Liberty Hotel."
