A few weeks ago I had a nice conversation with Patrick Goldstein about why the Academy is largely ignoring large films like Star Wars, Narnia, King Kong and Harry Potter this year - despite their good notices - in favor of small, ’ social activist ’ films. Patrick agreed with me that these films - and Star Wars in particular - are being slighted this year and that the Oscars now seem … smaller, more ‘ niche ’ - oriented and trivial as a result. You can hear Patrick and LA Times reporter Jon Horn discuss this here.

So I have this paper due tomorrow morning, and a distinct lack of motivation to do it. I just want to watch Miami Ink and go to bed. But Ari's taping it for me so I have no real procrastination outlet. I was crocheting but got bored. Guess I'll actually have to do my work. I wish I were motivated. This stupid little paper is worth 25% of my grade. Oy vey.

The video was taken when a group from Ohio came down to help out with some ministry this past summer (I was able to meet them briefly). It ’ s really cool because it shows how Mexican youth, short term missionaries, long term missionaries, and Mexican Christian workers are all working together. The Buhler family in Pachuca have done a lot of work training Mexican youth to share the Gospel effectively. It ’ s just another tool God is using to bring people to Himself in Central Mexico.

If the Democrats want to have a national debate about port security and why it poses a terror threat I think that ’ d be great. Bush has a lot to answer for on this score as this Daily Kos diarist points out. But that ’ s a separate topic that shouldn ’ t be confused with the DPW issue since the company will not control port security where it operates (the U.S. authorities like the Coast Guard and Homeland Security will).

MONTY PYTHON 'S PERSONAL BEST premieres o n PBS tonight. Each episode will include members of the original Monty Python troupe performing in favorite clips from the classic series, repurposed with exclusive new material. Each of the five living Pythons — John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin — produced and wrote his own episode, and collaborated to create the sixth special in honor of the late member Graham Chapman. Check your local listings for airtimes.

walking to get into the habit again, and pr0n to catch up on. You know, all the good things in life. Awesome link for the day: Rin, by the same mangaka who drew "Desire" and something else I really like (but currently forget the title). Now complete by Mochi scanlations! This is a shoe. People wear it. I leave you with this: Internet drama ain't no thang when Martha Stewart and Donald Trump go at it!

Wow! I can't believe Brad Pitt would give up Jennifer Aniston. I mean, she's really got to be a bitch for him to get away from her. Hey, if he's willing to let that go, then I'm willing to take the risk of bumping into her and maybe even be tempted to strike up a conversation. Okay, so it's ballsy. But what the heck. It's just like ending up at a site you have absolutely no interest in, like some off the wall topic like 2006 volvo s60, and you then start searching for ways to research the topic on the site without even giving it a second thought.

And then there's the latest Pink Panther movie. Even with the inspired choice of Steve Martin in the Clouseau role, this Panther picture is more bumbling and fumbling than the blissfully oblivious, accident-prone Inspector. But if u like cheesy comedy, u will like the film. I know i did. And then there's the new Bond movie scheduled for filming. The lamest title for a bond film so far. Lets hope their listening and will change their folly.

Besides getting a good workout, I can also read about how Jessica Simpson was cheating on Nick Lachey. I think I ’ ve decided why Nick and Jessica (and Brad and Jennifer) didn ’ t last. It ’ s because the husband was prettier than the wife! I know I ’ m going to get my usual accusations of being gay from my sister and Megan (who is undergoing reconstructive surgery on Wednesday! - Good luck Megan) but you have to admit that Jessica is kind of hideous and Jennifer before the makeover was kind of funny looking. Brad and Nick, though? They could have made a couple.

Now as every Harry Potter fan knows, we hardly know anything about The Marauders and their adventures, when they their selves were attending Hogwarts but what we do know is what keeps us fans on our toes... So I ’ ve decided myself, as many have decided to do their selves, have written their own version of those great characters, James Potter (Prongs), Sirius Black (Padfoot), Remus Lupin (Moony) and, not forgetting, Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail).

"The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure." Severus Snape. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I picked this quote simply because the meaning behind it and how it was so simply stated. What one thinks is their own and somebody can not just look at them and know what they are thinking or how they feel is totally different. Even if you have known that person for a long time. The mind is something private that no one can intrude into. At least that is how I see the quote.

Mr. Bush issued the threat after the Senate majority leader, Bill Frist, and the House speaker, J. Dennis Hastert, publicly criticized the deal and said a thorough review was necessary to ensure that terrorists could not exploit the arrangement to slip weapons into American ports. Mr. Bush suggested that the objections to the deal might be based on bias against a company from the Middle East, one he said was an ally in fighting terrorism.

Human rights lawyer Clive Stafford Smith said yesterday that the arrest of two actors last week, who portrayed former Guantanamo Bay detainees was "an ugly farce." The actors, along with the former prisoners that they played in Michael Winterbottom's The Road to Guantanamo, were held at Luton Airport after returning from the Berlin Film Festival last Thursday.

Citing the fact that the movie business depends on its ticket buying customer, the creator of the "Craignotbond" Website said that, "the opinion of Bond fans should be first in the minds of EON and Sony. There was such a negative outcry when they let go of Pierce Brosnan. Even if it was impossible in their minds to bring him back, there were dozens of actors available to play the part. Hugh Jackman and Clive Owen both practically lobbied for the part, and would have been suitable successors for Brosnan."
