LOS ANGELES - Don Knotts, the skinny, lovable nerd who kept generations of television audiences laughing as bumbling Deputy Barney Fife on “ The Andy Griffith Show, ” has died. He was 81. Knotts died Friday night of pulmonary and respiratory complications at Cedars-sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, said Paul Ward, a spokesman for the cable network TV Land, which airs “ The Andy Griffith Show, ” and another Knotts hit, “ Three ’ s Company. ” This actually really bums me out. Completely rewriting next week's column now.

Sometimes there's some really bad marketing going on around the internet. So I go to this one real estate agent's site because I'm looking for a house, right? And up pops this popup to go to a Used Car site. What the heck I say. Some people are just way off base. But then I found this really focused site on antique silver goblets and went hunting around and found some pretty amazing sites I never discovered about the topic. There you have it, right there before my eyes was everything I could possibly want and need in a resource to do my research. Happy is me!

Here we are in the 21st Century and more and more alien shows keep coming out on television. Perhaps one day the government will finally call it quits and tell us mere mortals that they have captured alien life and doing experiments with them as the aliens supposedly do experiments on us human beings. I mean, at least it would give me the feeling of tables being turned on the aliens. Maybe we can teach those foreign creations about something like college and show them a thing or two.

Anyways, I'm glad to see that people are working on projects to help the entire world be a license free type of place with Openoffice.org. Boy, how is that to knock-off a suite of tools like Bill Gates Microsoft suite so he can't grab all his renewal income from every single new upgrade or different named operating system he comes out with. Sheesh - that takes some real balls to go up against someone like Microsoft. I hope it makes a real dent in that software business years down the line.

; it had that same quality of emptiness to it. I think, in fact, that it was supposed to have that quality to it. But as the connection between Orlando Bloom's and Kirsten Dunst's characters began to gain depth, so too did the depth of the film. The idea of an unlikely relationship developing between two unlikely peopl, all with the backdrop of dealing with the death of a family member is just unbelievable enough to make it work. There was definitely a chemistry between the two characters and while it definitely had a romantic quality to it, it went beyond that, too. I think that's what I liked about it. Like all of Cameron Crowe's films, the music played a

I just got finished watching Pulp Fiction .... Holy shit. How did I go so long without seeing it? That was by far one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Gotta love Quentin Tarantino - fantastic motherfucker. Now to see what's on... Futurama maybe?

"How can we as a society lose Don Knotts and John Ritter but keep Suzanne Somers?" He was never able to use the one bullet allowed to him (from The Andy Griffith Show). Now that Norman Fell (Mr. Roper), Audra Lindley (Mrs. Roper), and Don Knotts (Mr. Furley) have all passed away, who's to mind the youngsters upstairs? Three's Company has lost it's landlords.

Hi, Today at my Not-so-local comic book store, I picked up the first issue of Nextwave by Warren Ellis. On the surface it's Ellis doing a parody of superhero comics using cast off Marvel heroes. But it's about more than that: "Nextwave is a super hero comic about five people who have just minutes to prevent a town from being eaten by a giant lizard monster in purple underpants." It's really, really good. I'm very happy with this first issue. Go check it outtom
