The highly respected investigative journalist Seymour Hersh even claims in a ` New Yorker ’ article that the White House is considering using tactical nuclear weapons against deep underground Iranian nuclear and command sites.

France's Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin gives a speech at his Hotel Matignon offices in Paris April 10, 2006 after a decision by French President Jacques Chirac to scrap planned youth job contract CPE that has provoked weeks of protests and a political crisis. Villepin, who has championed the job law, said in the televised statement he regretted that events had shown the contract could not be applied. (REUTERS/Jack Guez)

Well I ofically quit my job of 12 years last week to stay home! My hubby and I feel so good about this decision (isn't the reason why we had children was to raise them?) but on the flip side, I'm terrified of my new life! I have worked since I was 15 (now 30) and to me...

In the past few years, the popularity of online poker has exploded, with millions of players around the world playing daily. Many attribute the enormous surge in popularity of online poker to the huge amount of media attention given to annual tournaments such as the World Series of Poker (WSP) and the Online Casino World Poker Tournament (WPT). In recent years, poker, particularly Texas Hold ’ em, has become a favorite recreational activity of people of all ages.

Aaron Sorkin should've written the death of Leo Mcgarry. I haven't been watching The West Wing since the end of season 4. As much as I like Teri Polo (save my expectations for Danny to keep showing up) who is playing the Democratic candidate's wife, I had to turn it off again after Jed found out. I can't stand to see the characters being shells of their former selves. Also. Donna and Josh sleeping together? Fuck you, NBC.I hope that's not a spoiler for anyone. I mean, he died in real life. He was the VP candidate for the Democrats. Did you think they were going to keep him just off screen, always in the bathroom, or have him always meeting an old friend until the show ended? Actually, given the hacky writers they have now, I'm kinda happy they didn't go with that idea...

Kudos to Republican Senator Arlen Specter for finally having the courage to stand up and demand answers from George W. Bush. The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee said Sunday on Fox News, “ … there ’ s been enough of a showing here with what ’ s been filed of record in court that the President of the United States owes a specific explanation to the American people. ” (1) This, of course, is in regards to the newly revealed involvement that George W. had in the leaking of information in the Valerie Plame affair.

It might go without saying, but the narrower the blood vessels become, the harder your heart has to pump, which results in increased blood pressure. High blood pressure itself poses several health risks, like heart attack, stroke and kidney problems.

Time.com: Why Iraq Was a Mistake (hat tip Americablog): "Two senior military officers are known to have challenged Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on the planning of the Iraq war. Army General Eric Shinseki publicly dissented and found himself marginalized. Marine Lieut. General Greg Newbold, the Pentagon's top operations officer, voiced his objections internally and then retired, in part out of opposition to the war. Here, for the first time, Newbold goes public with a full-throated critique."

"But he wouldn't do that," say people who think they 're being sensible. Given what we now know about the origins of the Iraq war, however, discounting the possibility that Mr. Bush will start another ill-conceived and unnecessary war isn't sensible. It's wishful thinking.

So I am up & unhappily awake. Elaine Pagels is on television, talking about the Gospel of Judas, which at least is good and fascinating. Half of this National Geographic special is a refresher class after reading The Gnostic Gospels, but I eat this stuff up (and am not presently in any condition to consume much else). Beyond Belief is in my travel case, though I can not justify starting a book at this hour. Hopefully my body will settle down and I can get some rest, and just in time to travel again, too.

The newfound interest in poker is in large part due to the increasing access to online poker rather than to increased poker traffic in traditional land - based gaming venues. In fact, the current trend in land - based casinos is to move away from the game of poker, since it is difficult for the casino to profit very much from the game. Since poker, more than any other game in the casino, is a game of skill, it is much harder to the casinos to be assured of beating players. Although land casinos traditionally charge players high game fees, or rakes, it is still much more profitable for the casino to eliminate poker rooms entirely and replace them with games that are completely based on luck like, say, the casino gold mine: slot machines.

Hermione Granger was frustrated. She was angry. She was fuming, really. How had things come to this for the proud Gryffindor? Pining over a professor was hardly becoming of the Head Girl; especially when the object of said pining was none other than, as the students referred to him, the greasy bat of the dungeons himself, Professor Severus Snape. It had all started at the end of her sixth year when she and Ron had ended their ill-fated romance. She had fled the Gryffindor common room for the solace of the Astronomy Tower. She hadn ’ t considered the fact that it was nearly midnight and obviously after hours.

'The latest in a parade of horrors emanating from the Bush administration appeared Thursday in the form of a revelation buried in papers filed in federal court by Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald in his investigation into the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame. I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice President Cheney's former chief of staff, now under indictment on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice, told the Grand Jury Fitzgerald convened that President Bush had -- via Vice President Cheney -- authorized him to disclose selected information from a National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) to New York Times reporter Judith Miller, which he did during a private breakfast meeting at the St. Regis Hotel on July 8, 2003.

Vs. Ric Flair: *** 1/2 Impressive as is! Less screwed-up execution unlike last year, but wasn't as Oooh! Ahhh! eye-candy as last year. That does not mean this was a spectacular matchup. I thought Shelton was gon na win it, but RVD takes it. Flair taking a big suplex like that just surprises me, considering that he is 57 years old (?). Lashley, with all that "Steroids" in him, did a decent job climbing up that ladder (DAMN THAT GUY 'S HUGE!). And I remember when Finaly was in WCW as a jobber. Now, he's shown his perfornace well with that "unable-to-pronounce" stick (LOL). Of course, since the other 3 competed in such matches before, we know waht they are capable of, and they impressed such with great athleticism. Hardcore Match: Mick Foley Vs.

Matt hoped that a new form of publishing would give voice to the silent center not caught up in the partisan system of political labels and allegiances, and so did many of us. The prototypical warblogger was an “ anti-idiotarian ” who would fearlessly criticize spin doctors on both sides in a relentless search for truth. And indeed, this was the dominant voice in the blogosphere in 2002. In those days, people we now see as mind-numbingly partisan hacks (Josh Marshall, Kevin Drum, and Charles Johnson for example) were readable and refreshing.

But give credit where credit is due - many soaps accomplish a great deal with the format they've been given to work with. I think actors with a background in soaps (Mira Sorvino, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kevin Bacon, Marisa Tomei, Chris Noth, Steven Culp, Kate Mulgrew, Marg Helgenberger, Julianne Moore, Allison Janney - just to name a few) often go on to bring such depth and integrity to their later characters because of the ways that acting on a soap can shape an actor. It's rigorous, intense work for everyone involved in the process. Even sometimes the audience! (how often have I had to go searching through archives online to figure out storylines that related to things that happened on a show 20 or more years ago!? hee)

I believe that the problem is that there is a disconnect between costs and benefits in the mix of health care services consumed. Under our current system, where insurance coverage kicks in at relatively low levels of expenses (even first-dollar coverage is common), consumers only confront health care costs indirectly through insurance premiums and taxes.
