I just watched the first episode of the new UK Doctor Who season tonight. Not a bad episode. Still taking me a little to get used to the new Doctor (David Tennant), especially as I've been watching Christopher Eccleston on Sci Fi every weekend (I also have all downloads from the 2005 season). It was interesting watching Rose (Billie Piper) acting all sultry in one scene, it looks like she had a bit of fun with her role this time out. A werewolf story next week. (Boo!)

we 're at the franz ferdinand/death cab for cutie concert. There are like 5000 people here. It's an awesome show so far. And good lord... The hot people!

One of the pleasures of this time of year is watching The Ten Commandments and counting the number of times Anne Baxter and Yul Brynner and Yvonne de Carlo say, "Oh, Moses, Moses!" in great ccampy Edith Head Egyptian drag.

It would be a very destabilizing force in the Middle East, probably initiating an arms race with other countries like Turkey and Saudi Arabia. They outright support terrorists hell-bent on the destruction of the US and Israel today. Why wouldn't they pass along material or possibly an actual bomb?

16. Katie Holmes was .... well, let's just say her career is over for at least a decade. All I can think about when she is onscreen is the whole Tom Cruise debacle. (Why did Katie take up with him? What is she thinking? Has she really had sex with that weirdo? Do the Scientologists follow her around? And so on.) So her presence is a total distraction.

Currently getting into the Easter mood by watching "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Turtles'Awesome Easter." Rocksteady and Bebop are dressed in bunny suits. This rules.

so, the special effects in The Ten Commandments are awesome... heh. (it's on TV. I guess the reason this sequence is so long is because it would've been really cool back then. kinda like how peter jackson drags out his big effects scenes. Yes, I just compared Lotr and King Kong to The Ten Commandments k, I don't really know the story of Moses, other than the first part and a really simplified version,'cause I had a book when I was a kid. but... why on earth would you even think to worship a golden calf?? Anyone want to fill me in? The Pianist is disturbing and really sad. But good.

Overly self-conscious and not as clever as it thinks it is, "Lucky Number Slevin" is still a largely entertaining caper film. Josh Hartnett plays Slevin, a chronically unlucky young man who is mistaken for a friend whose apartment he's staying in, by two warring crime lords (Morgan Freeman and Sir Ben Kingsley),

Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, "They have taken the Lord's body out of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!"

We are both big Tim Burton fans and generally fans of Danny Elfman scores and they often go together with great effect. That is the case with Corpse Bride. And who better to do a score about the dead than Danny Elfman? It's a quirky little tale about a groom named Victor who mistakenly marries a corpse bride instead of his true love on the eve of his wedding. He is taken down to the wild Tim Burton underworld where he must ultimately decide whether he wants to stay down below in the land of the dead with his corpse bride (and voluptuous she is, even with one eye popping out all the time!), or return to his lovely living bride above.

VATICAN CITY -- In his first Easter message as pontiff, Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday urged nations to use diplomacy to defuse nuclear crises _ a clear reference to worries over Iran _ and prayed that Palestinians would one day have their own state alongside Israel.

Got a free ticket to the Bullet For My Valentine\Lacuna Coil\Rob Zombie concert yesterday. It was fantastic! All three rocked the place. It felt good to get out for a bit and let loose. Glad I went alone, was very enjoyable. My head was still pounding at 4 this morning. Took a long nap, had some chili dogs for breakfast, and it's been a fantastic last 24 hours or so. Tomorrow I get ham and boiled eggs. Life is good. In other news, it's official, I am the stupidest man alive. But at least I have nowhere to go but up now.

The Moderate Voice: "Arizona Senator John Mccain has said he's in agreement with the retired generals who are suggesting that Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld should consider moving onto new challenges or suddenly decide to spend more time with his family. But he has a qualifier: the President, he says, has the right to have whomever he wants as Secretary of Defense."

Hee! Funny how the littlest of things can make you feel all better again. Today was's Cat's Birthday HP Drabblethon. That's where HP fans submit their craaazy drabble-prompt idea (alright, some of them aren't, but for the most part this is like some kind of dare to top the Harry Potter fandom's usual insanity), and then someone else is randomly assigned to write it. The whole post is here, and it is teh awesome with its cracktastic goodness. But anyway, I participated this year. Hee hee. was assigned my prompt, which was: Severus Snape, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black and Lucius Malfoy walk into a bar... The drabble is here. And I got assigned's prompt, which was: flash-cards, anti-depressants and femmeslash, please! And that's here. In conclusion: Best. Easter. Weekend. EVER.

So, exhausted, I went to bed after the eighth inning with the Twins down 5-4 and Mariano Rivera pitching, already preparing to write an entry today about how it was All Joe Mauer's Fault, and perhaps the follishness of relying on Rondell White as your cleanup hitter. Then I wake up and find out Justin picked everybody up in the ninth. So go Justin.

And doomsday it could well be, according to Richard Clarke and Steven Simon, a pair of top Clinton-era counter-terrorism officials who write on Iran in the Times'Week in Review section. They recall that after the Iranian-arranged bombing of Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, the administration debated how to react.
