Me Jordynne and Tyler just saw Silent Hill. It was really good, I'm normally not a huge fan of horror films. I haven't played the games but apparently they did a good job with the translation. Johnny Cash makes screaming melting zombie mutant magma babies die. They also shine bright lights in your eyes right after you've adjusted to the darkness. And have very annoying sounds, which are appropriate for the movie, but still annoying. Same way with the game? Fresh Prince is on and the theme is playing, I thought my mom was calling my phone. I'm gon na sleep upstairs close to my mommy and the dogs cuz they can totally protect me from Pyramid Head.

And I realized that while there is a real need for Friedman to write op/ed's, for Laurie David to bring global warming into pop culture, and for Al Gore to spread the word about the seriousness of the problem, the long march to climate neutrality in the US will have to be led by the millions of today's youth. The ideal place to reach these folks, and to find the hidden multiplier that is so sorely needed, is on today's 4,000 US campuses where over 15,000,000 students are training every day to be the next generation of consumers, parents, and world leaders.

Eventually, the threat of the Soviet Union will be too great for the West to ignore. However, by this time, there has been no massive mobilization of military might from America. We never built "the arsenal of democracy" that won World War II and, eventually, the Cold War. And without Einstein and several other refugees that fled Nazi Germany, along with the imminent threat of a Nazi bomb, we never developed nuclear weapons. The United States never becomes a superpower, and never amasses the might to check the march of Communism.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) -- Fans gathered outside a hospital Sunday where Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards was reportedly hospitalized for a mild concussion he suffered after falling out of a palm tree while vacationing in Fiji. ***** The article goes on to say after he fell out of the tree he got on a jet ski and had another accident. I just hope he's just not trying to prove the "you can't kill Keith Richards" theory. Of course they don't say WHY he was in the tree in the first place, I guess being Keith Richards you don't have to give an explanation. Feel better, Keith.

Illegal immigrants and their supporters are preparing for Monday's nation-wide demonstrations, walk-outs and boycotts. What they are demonstrating is precisely why illegal immigration is such a problem: Foreign nationals enter illegally at will and hi-jack huge segments of the U.S. economy, then hold it hostage to assert their will. But are they the ones who are wrong?

• Wayne Rooney injured. Wayne Rooney is down, and it is bad. Actually, it ’ s not so much a blow to Manchester United as it is to Team England, who desperately need Rooney for the World Cup. He ’ s going to need six weeks to recover from the foot injury. England has to name their final team before May 15th. Rooney, at the moment, is expected to make the trip.

President Bush, I beg you to please have compassion and save the innocent ones: the mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters caught in the middle of this terrible civil war in Uganda. I pray that you will move to stop the abductions and senseless killings. Together, we, as the students and community members who participate in the Global Night Commute, band together against the tyranny and persectution in that country. We stand up for the downtrodden and beaten victims of the conflict in Northern Uganda. Tonight, I ask you to stand with us, so that we may end the plague of war and greed in Uganda. Please, I ask you to move to end the war, save the civilians, send humanitarian aid, and save the Invisible Children. God Bless.

See, we non-brits didn't get Doctor Who episodes, as a rule, until the Tom Baker era showed up on our screens, at the greedy rate of one-half-hour per weekday, which meant we whipped through his entire seven-year run in something like a year. And us Who fans (go Whovians!) came to learn that there'd been Doctors and companions before, but as far as what we felt, Tom Baker was the origin of the species. And so was Sarah Jane Smith.

Not ever movie you make has to be as long return of the king! We could barely tolerate it when return of the king was that long! This is my last full week here. My summer starts next wednesday (on may 10th! early summer, yeah?). I know already that by august 26th I'll be dying inside to get back here, but it'll be nice to be home for as long as I damn well feel like it. Aka: four months. Parties and hot tubbing and movie nights and such. Yep it'll be a good summer. But things just started getting interesting here :-p - Abbie

Despite high winds and foreboding clouds that hovered all day Saturday, thousands of fans packed the Fair Grounds for a second day. While big names such as the Dave Matthews Band, Etta James and Herbie Hancock played at the bigger stages, one star casually dropped in on one of the smaller sets. The Edge, from supergroup U2, walked on during the New Birth Brass Band's already enthralling set, joining them as they sang "Stand By Me" in tribute to New Orleans. The group inserted its own new lyric, singing "New Orleans will never die" defiantly during the song. Band leader and bass drum player Cayetano Hingle said his group, which was forced to relocate to Houston after Katrina, met U2 when the Irish rockers saw New Birth performing in the streets of New Orleans.

Yesterday night was stupid. We were such social losers - Sally and I (too embarassing and infuriating to mention). Maybe even my Kakak Suzie (she had to attend this birthday party for her colleague and she said it was a bore). However we got to watch a movie at The Cathay for free (with Sally ’ s help)! We could choose the movie, and we ended up watching The Sentinel (with Michael Douglas & Eva Longoria). It was quite good but not mind-blowing enough. But I ’ m sure it ’ s better than some teen flick. At least Sally didn ’ t fall asleep. And The Cathay is really like any other Cathay cineplexes inside if you ’ re talking about the mainstream movies. It ’ s the art films that get you the plush first-class seats.
