Who will ultimately win American Idol between Taylor Hicks and Katharine Mcphee? As always, fan support will play a huge role. The battle between Taylor Hicks and Katharine Mcphee will very likely be a red state vs. blue state fight. The terminology red state and blue state comes from recent presidential elections where states that voted for the Republican candidate were colored red and states that voted for the Democratic candidate were colored blue during televised election night coverage. In the last two elections, states located in the Southern and Central United States generally went red, while states located in the Northeastern and Western United States generally went blue.

Nowitzki, Mavericks Outlast and Dethrone Spurs Box Score | Spurs Home | Mavericks Home SAN ANTONIO, May 22 (Ticker) -- Dirk Nowitzki put his head down and went hard to the basket, driving the Dallas Mavericks past the resilient San Antonio Spurs and into the Western Conference finals. NORA: I thought the actor playing Morris was so full of ironic twinkles that he'd wandered in from an entirely different television show. But I was very grateful for a number of things in the finale: that we never had to see Jack's daughter or her awful boyfriend or that woman in the tank top that he had a fling with during the mid-season break and her idiotic son. But when it was over and Jack had been captured by Chinese people, I felt sad because it somehow made me know in a deep way that Karl Rove was never going to be indicted .... It made me know that nothing really ever quite happens, either on television or real life, the loop just keeps re-looping, and the audience just keeps hoping something will actually come to a dramatic pass, but it never quite does.

MERRILL: Well, there were plenty of utterly whimsical inclusions to take up the slack. For instance, the sudden inclusion of Chloe's ex husband who has never been mentioned before: Morris O'Brien, a guy who works at a shoe store in Beverly Hills but was able to be on call to show up at CTU and consult at 5 A.M. for no reason plot-wise other than to bring something to Jack at the Printing Press Warehouse where he had taken President Logan. Someone I know said that they watched a panel discussion with the writers of "24" at the Museum of Broadcasting and one of them confessed that they are only two episodes ahead in terms of plotting the arc of the show. That explains a lot.

Where to begin? It ’ s late, so I will keep this relatively brief. Monday night at the Cell brought us a wonderful welcome for Frank Thomas, who hit two home runs and had a single in five at-bats, and a great comeback by the White Sox, down 4-1 in the bottom of the eighth, for a 5-4 victory in 10 innings. In the wake of an FBI raid on the Washington offices of Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA), both Democrats and Republicans are raising questions as to whether the police action violated the separation of powers. As part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of bribery, the FBI conducted the first-ever raid on the offices of a sitting Congressman. Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich referred to the FBI actions as "the most blatant violation of the Constitutional Separation of Powers in my lifetime." Yet, while politicians denounced the actions of the FBI, some legal scholars noted that there is "nothing in the Constitution that says a congressional office is immune to searching more than a private citizen ’ s office or Jefferson ’ s home is."

The Mavs are on their way to the conference finals after beating in-state rival and defending champion San Antonio Spurs 119-111 in overtime. Dallas, led by Dirk Nowitzki ’ s 37 points and 15 boards were in control most of the game before a second half push by the Spurs took the teams to overtime where Dallas outscored San Antonio 15-7. Jason Terry had 27 points and Josh Howard added 18 for the Mavs, who shot 52% from the field and outrebounded the Spurs 41-34. Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 41 points and 15 rebounds, while Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili had 24 and 23 respectivly, but San Antonio only got 2 points from their bench. Dallas wins a great series 4-3, next up is Phoenix and a familiar friend.

So just today, I went ahead and rented Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, despite the fact that I never beat the original game. Go figure. Even still: SO PRETTY.A while back, described it as "Sex with your eyes." And by George, he was right. SO PRETTY. Glad that I held out for the DVD, as I don't think I would've liked to watch a bootleg fansub version. Even still, it was kinda sucktackular how the freakin'Turks got more screentime than the actual Player Characters. Though to balance that out, at least the Turks were entertaining to watch. Oh, and the fighting? Everyone who ever wants to play Exalted should watch them. This will be a rule for the next time I run Exalted. Which... likely isn't going to be anytime soon. Curses!

Several days ago Ian Mckellen appeared on a talk show with a host who had already seen the flick (Mckellen hasn't). Mckellen quizzed the host about the possible existence of a chess playing scene near the end of the film. I hate the way media manipulates a story when it simply isn't understood what happens. This occured to me when I was reading that designer Tommy Hilfiger got into a "fight" with Axl Rose of Guns N'Roses. Reports claim that Axl was moving the drinks of Tommy's girlfriend when he became hysterical and smacked him in the arm. His behavior escilated and he was kicked out of the club. There have been 4 or 5 media outlets who have published that either Axl got his ass kicked by a designer or Axl kicked the designer's ass. Tommy Hilfiger is an older skinny dude while Axl is in his mid 40s and in decent shape, hrm I wonder who would win?

Mavs vs. Suns. Could one team score 150 points? Could both? I understand that the Mavs are supposedly much better defensivley under Avery Johnson than in the past (alright, they really are) but they aren't exactly the'04 Pistons reincarnated. Phoenix routinely scored 125 + in the playoffs and that's with teams trying to slow then down and trying as hard as possible not to take the bait of trying to run with them. You don't think Jason Terry, Devin Harris, Josh Howard, Marquis Daniels will want to push the bell? Especially Harris, coming off a series where he was made a deity for his ability to push the ball? Dallas might be the fastest team in the L - to Phoenix. Trust me, this one is going to get up and down, espeically in Phoenix.

Lena Olin was masterful as Irina Derevko. She was an enigma. Clearly she could be vicious, but she also had her tender side. Of course, this tenderness was frequently masking some hidden agenda, but she always livened up the plot. The interplay between her and Victor Garber was nothing short of brilliant. And I shall never forget her tender words when Sydney was in labor, "I came to realize that I could either be a good mother or a good agent, but not both. I chose to be an agent." How is that for maternal rejection?
