Upon seeing “ The Da Vinci Code ” this weekend, I can finally empathize with all the protesters I saw in front of the theater. My objection to the movie isn ’ t rooted in religious beliefs or even moral disagreements, but rather the disrespectful mockery of the world ’ s oldest and most famous story. “ Star Wars ” is both a literary and cinematic treasure, and Dan Brown ’ s recent atrocity is nothing more than blatant plagiarism of Lucas ’ timeless creation.

Anyway, Xmen III was a fun adventure of a movie that strays from the actual universe story and has several inconsistencies to boot. End of day and that aside it is a good movie. The guy who plays Iceman is getting taller and cuter. Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, and Kelsey Grammer all do nice with their respective parts. Da Vinci Code is good also. It was a weekend of Ian Mckellen, I guess. What I got form this controversial movie, which if more people got what I got maybe the controversy would not be there. Live is what you choose to make of it and all questions have multiple answers. We are after all human with the freedom to choose our own destinies and weave our own fates.

According to a government statement, after the birth of Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-pitt, the celebrity couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt donated $300,000 to help other babies in Namibia. The money will be used to improve the two hospitals ’ maternity wards and will contribute significantly to the health of Namibian babies.

- stupendous, but the seriousness of Ian Mckellen ’ s performance, even in the midst of blue screen trickery, makes it awesome. In fact, Mckellen and Patrick Stewart are once again the saving graces of the franchise. Without them, we lose a certain amount of sincerity, of gravitas. And that ’ s part of the problem with X3. When the presence of either actor is diminished, the film ’ s center fails to hold.

So: If Professor Xavier and Scott Summers were blown to pieces by Jean Grey, and she got killed by Wolverine, but Professor Xavier can come back from "the dead" and speak to Moira Mctavish through the body of Coma Guy, can Scott come back? Do you have to be a telepath? I don't doubt Jean Grey is powerful enough to blow all those people she destroyed into another dimension. Can we get them all back? All those mutants and National Guardsmen? We know Jean Grey can come back, because she's The Phoenix.

If you consider some of the voices in this country which are making a difference by constructively changing the tenor of the national debate, they 're not coming from gutless politicians or the complacent mainstream media. It's coming from average Americans like Al Norman, music student Jean Rohe, who confronted Senator John Mccain at the New School graduation ceremony during her commencement address, anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, or Marine Reserve Major Paul Hackett who returned from Iraq and decided to run for Congress as an anti-bush fighting Democrat ("I called the president a sonofabitch," Hackett told me in his interview for

"Thematically for me, the story of my adult life -- whether it was opposing the Vietnam War, or fighting nuclear power plants in the'70s, or going against Wal-mart -- has always been not to accept the explanation of the government and not to see yourself as a creature of your government. You need to ask important questions about what's really going on.

A sad goodbye to Paul Gleason, better known to people of my generation as that mean principal from "The Breakfast Club." He was only 67 and died Saturday of a rare form of lung cancer linked to asbestos of all things. He was also in "Trading Places" and since the 80s had mostly done a lot of guest spots on TV, including "Friends," "The Drew Carey Show" and "Malcolm in the Middle." So long, Principal Vernon.

1. The Dark Phoenix Saga - The Phoenix is not a split personality created by Jean's mind. It is a seperate entity that uses Jean's body as a vessle and is bent on destroying everything. The only thing keeping Jean in control is Scott! (who dies at the start of the film) At the end of the story Jean gains control and sacrafices herself as a hero and is not killed by Wolverine. (moral dilema number one, by the way, I will get to that later) And never once did I see fire come from Jean, or the symbol of the Phoenix ANYWHERE.

The German magazine Der Spiegel has published its interview with Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and it should disturb anyone who reads it fully. The interview reveals Ahmadinejad as a man obsessed with Jews, and one intent on provoking German resentment over its post-war humiliation to split the West on Israel .... The prospects did not improve when DS changed the topic, with some resistance from Ahmadinejad, to nuclear weapons. When DS asked the Iranian president bluntly whether Iran desired nuclear weapons, he changed the subject.

The alleged revenge murders by U.S. Marines of more than two dozen unarmed Iraqi civilians in Haditha are being decried by Rep. John Murtha as "worse than Abu Ghraib." The death of Pat Tillman is being chalked up to "gross negligence." Both tragedies highlight the impossible task confronting the soldiers who fight for America. To try covering up these things is to trivialize the demands of duty.

such a bewildering movie for me -- while plotlines such as those weirded me out, I loved all the screen time Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page) got. She was absolutely perfect -- I loved how she played Kitty. And ha! she got to call Juggernaut "Dickhead." Totally kicked ass! Can't they make a whole movie for her? Or she could at least have been introduced way back in the first movie. Though I really hated that whole scene on the ice with Bobby. Eew. She should've been with Colossus, hello. Plus, Ellen Page is one distractingly cute girl. :) If only they'd make those X-men team costumes more body hugging, though. They looked so bulky. I'm sure the fans complained -- I mean, how else could Hugh Jackman have gotten so many naked chest and wearing-only-a-wifebeater shots?

Or so the story goes. This is a fake snuff and torture film set to nine inch nails music, so fair warning to you readers from two-parent households.

Truth be told I ’ ve always been a closet metalhead. I graduated high school in 1988, so I was at the right age to get into metal. Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Motörhead, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Guns ‘ n ’ Roses, Jane ’ s Addiction … all made up a significant part of my teenage years through my early 20 ’ s. I still listen to a lot of those albums, and they still sound good. If you ’ re a metal fan, check out the site and see when they ’ re replaying it. It ’ s well worth the four hours of your time …

Once set to star Russell Crowe alongside Nicole Kidman as lovers in the Australian Outback shortly before Japan attacked Darwin in 1942 (In order to turn that boring summary into what the movie is going to be like, you have to imagine a lot of sweeping music, and "I WILL FIND YOU!" - style declarations, all shot with lots and lots of pretty colors.), the film allegedly has now switched Aussies: Nic's man is now Heath Ledger.
