Pirates was in fact pretty bad. The plot was waaaay too convoluted, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley were more boring and useless than in the first one, and even Johnny Depp couldn't save it. What a mess. I am really hoping everything will come together again in the third one.

Zoë looked into the mirror; her dark brown eyes peered back at her through her thin framed glasses. Her dark brown hair was a mess atop her head, and she seemed quite tired. She was not at all as beautiful as the Victorian woman was. She frowned and moved from the vanity towards the bathroom.

You are sensitive and intuitive, with others and yourself. You are creative and dreamy... plus dramatic and unpredictable. You 're emotionally honest, real, and easily hurt. Totally expressive, others always know exactly how you feel.

Yesterday, I saw Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth. I really enjoyed it. Rather than being preachy and pesimistic, the film was more understanding and optimistic. I left the film feeling hopeful rather than doomed. I'd recommend the film to anyone who wants to know more about the issue of global warming.

i ve just been watching these two documentaries on history channel, the first was a doc on the history of american comic books, and the next was a complete doc on the history of Superman. they were super long docs, and its past 1: 20 am, but it leaves me wanting to draw and go out tomorrow to find a random comic book store and find something my type heh. = P well anyway, i'm tired now, but it was a very good documentary. i learned a bit more about the history and about christopher reeve too, was more than an actor but a real hero too. yup. and i think the new superman fellow looks like a perfect match too for the famed 70-year old super-hero. oh yeah, the new movie was amazing, but had way too much romance stuff for me, but that's for the whole story of superman i guess..

Overall, the concert was good. Ted Leo opened and did a short/not-so-great set. He seemed like he didn't really want to be there. Broken Social Scene played an amazing set. Amy Millan isn't in the band but she filled in for Leslie Feist [of Feist] and Emily Haines [of Metric]. She was really amazing. We didn't stay for Belle & Sebastian. That's about it. I hope everyone had a nice Saturday.

Roger Federer wins his fourth Wimbledon, and his eighth major overall by beating an extremely game Rafael Nadal 6-0, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3. All the players I wanted to win their Wimbledon finals this year (Federer, Amelie Mauresmo, the Bryan Brothers) did it. Yes!!! I'm having the best weekend ever, and it's not just because of tennis. But more on that later. (tee hee hee)

On yesterday ’ s Adam Carolla radio show, Ann Coulter called in to the show an hour and a half late, then told the host "I am really tight on time." Carolla responded, "All right, well get lost" and then hung up on her mid-sentence.

They 're very excited over on about Ishida Akira voicing Light in the Death Note anime. I have no idea who that is; however, I do recognize the name that Anime News Network is listing (and people are also squeeing about in the post comments) as the voice of L.W ell. Not what I had in mind, but. Here's me not complaining. Waiminnit, is Ryuk's voice the guy who does him in the movie? The name sounds familiar. I could go for that too.

I'm waiting for the call to boot camp, however I believe my re-test is what's slowing things down. I called my Doctor but ap [parently I need to book an appointment to harass'em. K, so Monday I'll have to book the appointment, and then harass'em to get it pushed to the military. Monday! The harassing dammit! As for now, the overtime I've been doing plus my GST had made me realize something: Time to get a DS Lite. Then something else hit me, the time I have the money to buy one both the game and system are sold out everywhere. Figures. Ah well, probably have to be monday/tuesday then. Lookin at either New Super Mario Bros or Metroid Hunters and perhaps... Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls/IV. Yummy portable gaming.

Overall, it's a whole lot less boring and less needlessly pleased with itself than Superman, but it's still appreciably less good than the first one. There's some uncomfortable racism to a few segments -- the kind that people accused Peter Jackson's King Kong of, except that it's a valid criticism here -- and Cap 'n Jack Sparrow's beef with the "half-man/half-delicious" ((c), Walter Chaw) Davy Jones just doesn't make for the kind of dramatic tension or the kind of self-contained internal logic that made the first Y'Arr the best purely escapist movie since Speed.

, based on a theme park ride, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. I did really like that swordfight on the water wheel, that was sweet. Only real complaint is that it has that "Empire Strikes Back Syndrome", where the end doesn't really resolve much and just sets up the third movie. But apparently Chow Yun-fat is the main villain in the next film, so bring it on!

I am going to the 10: 15 showing of Pirate of the Caribbean tonight. And then getting up for church tomorrow. Hurrah! Also, fannishly, I am in a very happy place with comics right now. Admittedly, the thing that spurred me back into comics was not terribly encouraging (because Girl-wonder is awesome and fantastic but perhaps it is not the most happy-making with the comics) but now I have been reading again and... just, love. Transmetropolitan fills me with uncontrollable glee, Grant Morrison and Alan Moore are crazy in the best possible ways, Alias (my one tiny step into the Marvel! verse) is just lovely and every time Babs and her dad interact in Birds of Prey I am filled with joy. And I need more Starman, in the worst way. So, yes. Happy and fannish. Glee.

(Phantom of the Opera; Lara Croft: Cradle of Life). Based on the epic graphic novel by Miller, 300 is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing insurmountable odds, the Spartans ’ valor and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite against their Persian enemy, drawing a line in the sand for democracy. The film brings Miller ’ s (Sin City) acclaimed Dark Horse graphic novel to life by combining live action with virtual backgrounds that capture his distinct vision of this ancient historic tale. Mendelssohn's string quartet (Op. 44 No. 1) is so amazing, it brings tears to my eyes. It's very "italian" symphony Mendelssohn. You know, the good stuff. I'm honored to be a part of it. I've been practiving my part all day. What kind of a nerd practices on weekends between string camp days? The me kind. I'm trying hard for first chair. It's mine. Mine mine mine. Sulla primo e mio. Sergio said "You better make first, or I'll never have sex with you." I told him, "Stop making advances on campers or I'm going to tell and get you fired." I so told him. 8DI'm totally going to see Pirates tomorrow. I'm bursting at the seams with glee. I need to know what business Ms. Knightly has kissing Mr. Depp if she's supposed to be marrying Mr. Bloom. (Do nt tell if you know) Love triangles rock.

I love family dramas. They are simply excellent. Tobey Maguire and Christina Ricci pulled off the brother/sister relationship perfectly. Elijah Wood was creepy (as usual), but also a bit adorable. I did not know what the fuck was going on with Christina Ricci and the little brother (because they looked at least three years apart), but it was interesting. Katie Holmes'presence seemed unnecessary, which is not to say she didn't pull off the cliche rich-bitch thing. 8/10

Something was wrong. Daniel turned his gaze to Vala. “ Hey, Vala? ” Vala looked up at him slowly. “ Could you give Cam and I a few minutes alone, please? ”
