Instead of seeing Clerks II last week, I ended up seeing My Super Ex-girlfriend which turned out to have been a bad choice. I wanted to go catch Clerks II this past weekend but my girlfriend decided that it was her turn to pick movies after My Super Ex-girlfriend was such a disappointment. So we saw Miami Vice instead. Below are some brief thoughts on both movies

Back in 2001, I was a Kevin Smith fan through and through. Then Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back happened, and I got disenchanted. The much-ballyhooed "retirement" of Jay and Bob was just too much, threatening to self-reference itself into oblivion. When I first heard of Clerks II, I was skeptical. I figured the well had run dry for the "View Askew-niverse" and that it would be a bloated mess. I'm here to admit that I was wrong, and that I actually have found Clerks II to be my favorite movie of the summer. It made me laugh, stimulated my nostalgia center, and made me exponentially more uneasy with men named Kelly than I already was. Thanks for the smile you gave me, Kevin. Now, please, lose those crazy mid-90s style eyeglasses. They bug me with their largeness. Thanks in advance.

By the time I realized they had them (since I only stop into Mcdonald's once or twice a year), they were long out of them. Sorry Jess'.;)

The popular notion is that junior QB Chad Henne suffered a sophmore slump last season and that he needs to bounce back in 2006. However, a comparison of his statistics from his first two seasons as U of M's signal caller reveals that Chad's performance in his sophmore season rivaled if not equaled that of his freshman season. Although the Wolverines as a whole did much better in 2004 (9-3 overall, Big Ten co-champs, trip to the Rose Bowl) than they did in 2005 (7-5 overall, 3rd place tie in Big Ten, trip to the Alamo Bowl), Henne's performance was rather consistent during the two seasons. Just take a look:

But even more exciting than these potential contracts is this: the video crew from Discovery Channel who develops Shark Week is visiting next month to help him capture the necessary underwater footage. Unlike in previous filming episodes, this time the group plans to use two cages -- one with the repellent, and one with a camera crew -- to film the Sharkskunker in action. That is, if they can find sharks... and keep them around. "

I'm watching Hugh Laurie on Inside the Actor's Studio and a fan just asked the question, "Do you think House belongs in a relationship with Cameron, Cuddy, or dare I say it, Dr. Wilson?" Hugh says, "If the show runs long enough I think he'll run through all of them. I think any of those relationships would be believable. House and Wilson... I'm not sure how Robert [Sean Leonard] would feel about that, but... I'm game!" Dude, he is so the most awesome person ever. How amazing is that? FOR SERIOUS. HE TOTALLY SEES THE LOVE.HOUSE/WILSON OTP FOR RLZ !!!!! 1and Hugh really CAN play the piano! That's not quite as exciting as the other bit of news, but it made me happy. James Lipton freaks me out.

In addition to the changes in nomenclature of certain schools with Native American nicknames is coming another change: the BCS national championship game has chosen to become anonymous. Though the game will be played in the metro Phoenix area this year, it will not be the Fiesta Bowl (that bowl will, as Joepa notes below, still be a BCS bowl, and will take place a week before the title game). It will simply be called "the BCS National Championship Game."

Also, they are considering Paul Bettany for Lord Asriel. I'm really excited about the casting of Nicole. I think she's a wonderful actress and can do justice to the role. Paul may make a good Lord Asriel too. I like him, but I'm not sure if I quite see him in the role. I always pictured someone more... dashing? Larger? Not quite sure.

Congratulations should go out to the Los Angeles Clippers for winning their first playoff series in thirty years. Too bad they have never won a second round playoff series and too bad they will not win one this year because they are playing a superior team in the Phoenix Suns. On the bright side they shouldn't have to wait another thirty years to win another playoff series.

Techdirt brings into focus one of the largest problems in the net neutrality debate, not the issues themselves, rather it's the people involved and the lies they like to sling. An example of this is certainly the number of lobbyists that are being looked to as'experts'and getting their opinions published as such. One specific example was a recent piece published in the Baltimore Sun by Mike Mccurry, a lobbyist working for AT&T who claimed that with new legislation working for net neutrality Google wouldn't have to pay a dime. In response, Techdirt has suggested that Mccurry should swap telco bills with Google, somehow I doubt it will happen.

While my sister was looking through some random asian movie site there was a link to this trailor: http: // www.youtube.com/watch? v = jvdscylbsnmits the trailor for "The Departed" its actually Infernal Affair English version. Many of the scenes are quite similar to the Asian version, to the apartment top discussions, and the part where the boss breaks Tony Leungs (Leonardo Dicaprio in this version) arm cast to check if his the mole... Jack Nichloson plays the Bad Boss, while Leo plays the cop in the gang and Matt Damon plays the mole in the Police... quite confusing but if you have seen the asian version you'll get it.

After all the hype regarding Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn's romance and subsequently upcoming marriage, I had high hopes for this movie. Sad to say it didn't live up to my expectations. I found them tiresome the way they argued and tried to show up the other person in their break up. We all do screaming arguments with our better (?) halves and I don't need to see that while I am trying to relax for the day. Rather boring and uneventful. In the end, they broke up so what's the deal?

The core premise of the movie, what if your crazy ex-girlfriend had super powers, seemed like an interesting premise and I expected good things from a movie starring Luke Wilson and Uma Thurman. The movie started off well enough with a number of funny scenes including a few about sex with super heroes. However the movie peaked somewhere around the halfway mark in the scene where Uma Thurman spies on Luke Wilson and Ana Faris (the girl from the Scary Movie movies) having sex and throws a shark at them through the bedroom window.

I've watched Slither, Lucky something (with Lindsay Lohan.. forgot the title.. boy i keep forgetting stuff..). Lake House is just a remake of korean movie II Mari which i found a bore since it's slow. So i don't wan na watch the english ver. Phillip Seymour Hoffman is rumored to have been offered the role of Penguin. Since I know he reads my blog, let me take a moment to say, "TAKE THE PART!" I've been a fan of his since Twister. Mark Mulder, Barry Zito, and Jason Schmidt are the only three that are above the run of the mill pitchers the Phillies already had in-house. It is safe to say, that those pitchers will likely command the type of long-term, bloated, un-finacially flexible contracts with no-trade clauses that Gillick -- and now Phillies phans -- are loathe to hand out. Sure, trades are a possibility, but if Gillick couldn't land a top-tier starting pitcher with Bobby Abreu, who is left in the fold that will? Chase Utley, Ryan Howard would, but they are -- and should be -- deemed untouchable.

Reaction: Randy Foye will go a long way towards replacing Marco Jaric as a starter. I have a feeling Minnesota took Foye to please KG with a NBA ready player. I liked the drafting of Craig Smith; I donâ € ™ t care that he is undersized, he will be a beast off the bench. He is just so strong. I canâ € ™ t help but thinking what he would be like if he was 6-11 (I canâ € ™ t imagine the hype that would be surrounding him) even if he had produced the same stats in college. I canâ € ™ t believe Iâ € ™ m rooting against someone just because of their name, but I hope "LM" never makes the League (just to save the guys that have to write out the box scores some trouble). That is a long name.
