Heath Ledger will play the Joker in "The Dark Knight," the sequel to last year's "Batman Begins." Christian Bale will again star as Batman, and Christopher Nolan will return as director, Warner Bros. studio announced Monday. "The Dark Knight" is set to begin production next year. Ledger, 27, was nominated for a best actor Oscar for his role in 2005's "Brokeback Mountain." "Our challenge in casting the Joker was to find an actor who is not just extraordinarily talented but fearless," Nolan said in a statement issued by Warner Bros. "Watching Heath Ledger's interpretation of this iconic character taking on Christian Bale's Batman is going to be incredible." Jack Nicholson played the Joker in 1989's "Batman," starring Michael Keaton as Batman and directed by Tim Burton.

Now, if only the Supreme Court can decide that Global Warming is a reality and demand the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol (signed in 1998 by Al Gore, but never ratified), the U.S. will really be on its way to seeing eye to eye with the rest of the modern world.

A delightful bit of practical mysticism if you 're so inclined: And yet many of our hearts, brains, and minds seem to tell us different things. How does one discern the objective truth? Last night Michael and I were watching TV and a commercial came on for Garnier Fructis. It was for their “ Sleek and Shiny ” product line and featured a pretty girl swishing around long, glossy, dark brown hair. Michael said, “ Wow, her hair is really shiny! ” Then he turned to me and said, “ Your hair is not shiny. ” I said, “ Yes it is. ” He said, “ No, it isn ’ t. ” I said, “ Gee … well I guess I better get some of that stuff then to make my hair really shiny. ” And he said, “ Yeah. ”

From the Blog of Yorke: (my personal opinion) i ve had enough of this our government sitting on the fence with the US while world war 3 appears to be breaking out in Lebanon and Northern Israel. we must throw Tony Blair our of office NOW. he does not represent the views of the british people. he does not represent the views of his foreign office and officials. he does not even represent the views of those in his cabinet. he cares far too much about his relationship with Bush, and Murdoch. this man is not fit to be our prime minister. its a nice sunny day. come on lets do it. you know it makes sense. a vote of no confidence. or something. anything..

11 days of working straight through... geez .... finally getting a few days off .... on the way to work today i saw a matinee showing of "scoop" ...... woody allen's new film .... starring woody and his newest muse, scarlett johansson .... actually it wasn't bad ..... seeing hugh jackman on the big screen didn't hurt the film either .... all in all the film is rather innoculous and harmless to watch... it's about 96 minutes long ..... and it's got more than a few laughs in it .... woody and scarlett were good together ....... thank god in this film he didn't play a love interest, he played scarlett's father ..... recommended... not really worth driving any considerable distance to see, but it would make a good dvd rental imo .... tomorrow "azumi" and "the motel" ...... all for now...

Saw My Super Ex-girlfriend with Sarah last night. High-lary-ous. Story was kind of... meh, but damn funny none the less. Uma Thurman is an awesome actress and Luke Wilson has a damn nice V shaped back and a juicy butt. ^ _ ^ Plus, Eddie Izzard was in it too! i didn't realize it was him until most of the way through the film. I kept thinking "i know him from somewhere, but where?" and then i realized how short he really is when he is not in 3 inch heals. All and all, a good movie. Very light hearted with a few scientific inaccuracies.

Heath Ledger was cast to play the Joker in the next Batman movie. What an unexpected choice. No idea how that'll turn out. Batman Begins was awesome so they really shouldn't fuck up the next one. Heath Ledger does have the wide smile for it which can be accentuated with the makeup. I wonder if Katie Holmes is going to be in the next one. No offense to her, but her whole thing with Tom Cruise has made her credibility and perceived sanity go down the tubes. Least in my opinion. My current favorite actress is Rachel Mcadams. Her looks are flawless and I love roles (which really there aren't too many of them).

Movie star Jack Black has signed on to play Biblical bad Guy King Herod in a stage reunion of the cast of 1973 movie musical Jesus Christ Superstar. The original stars of the film, Ted Neeley and Yvonne Elliman, will team up with castmates for the August 13 benefit show in Hollywood. Black will replace Josh Mostel as Herod, while song and dance legend Ben Vereen will portray Judas Iscariot, a role that won him a Tony nomination in the Broadway show.

So the Senate passed the bill that will increase the minimum wage to 7.25 or something, requested by the democrats and previously always rejected by the republicans. So now it's passed and why did it pass this time??? Because the republicans amended it and said: we will ONLY pass this IF we get the estate tax cut for the upper class of America. Gotta'do something for yourself if you 're going to do something for the poor right...???

Well, looking back at previous entries i can tell you for sure that things are a lot better than they were. Misery has for the most part found a way out. Time heals old wounds. It's hard to believe how fast things are going. A brand new year in high school is slowly eating away at summer and will probably come around sooner than expected. Junior year, already. It's crazy how fast time flies. This year will be hella crazy. a packed schedule and a lunchless one at that, combined with a part time job, and tons of homework, plus trying to make a little time on the side. Sounds like a challenge, but then we have prom this year. That should make the year better. We'll see.concert with victoria on friday at jones beach. goo goo dolls and the counting crows. Can't wait :) lalala love gina < 3

It's used in tons of movies, and I'm always happy to hear it. I even thought it strangely appropriate when used in the supermarket-cart-crash-intro-thingy in the movie "Jackass". But - musst - they use my beloved "O Fortuna" to advertise "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby"??

Virgo: "If you are going through hell, keep going," said Winston Churchill. Let that advice be your inspiration in the coming week, Virgo. But wait: Before you jump to conclusions about what I'm saying, know this: Your tests and trials will be far, far less hellish than the ordeals Churchill faced as he led England through World War II. It's true that you may feel a bit tortured in the heat of the moment, though. So don't you dare slow down to feel sorry for yourself or scream at the chaos-makers. Keep plodding forward, secure in my assurance that you'll cross the border and exit out of the infernal regions well before you 're exhausted. haha-haha-ha-ha [insane cackling] Tom

Before watching the show, my colleagues told me that it was a very confusing movie & Keanu Reeves & Sandra Bullock were not compatible. But I thought otherwise. I was glad that my friends love the show as well. Even the guys. So I think it's generation gap problem? haha

I'm not a big fan of drug and cop movies. the movie itself was ok, but i was kinda waiting for it to end, but it was 2.5 hours long, so it wasn't an unreasonable feeling. i like jamie foxx and colin farrell (but he had ugly hair!). and i knew the black girl was from 28 days later, but she had the wrong accent, so i dismissed it, but looked it up and saw i was right. mike said she was from potc as the witch, and he was right too. but yeah, as we left the theater, mike said "this one's mine" and i said "you can have it".

I neglected to mention that last week I finished Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell > by Susanna Clark. It was really good. It had that magical quality like Harry Potter but with that sinister bent like a Gaiman work. Everybody should read it - A +. Since then, I decided to read back through the Sandman series. This time I'm reading it simultaneously with the Sandman Companion by Hy Bender. Bender, in this book, has interviews with any of the people who worked on the Sandman series when it was being created. Think of it as a commentary track for the book. I'm up to book three (of ten). I have an interview set for tomorrow. It's for a Data Analyst position with the University of New Mexico. Huzzah!
