Via The Daily Mail in London Sudanese noveleist Kola Boof is claiming that Osama Bin Laden was obsessed with Whitney Houston 10 years ago, to the extent he wanted to kill Bobby Brown (it ’ s his prerogative I guess) and give Whitney his castle near Khartoum. He also slipped copies of Playboy and Star inside his Koran, and had a thing for the Wonder Years and Miami Vice, as well as the kicker … Macgyver. Apparently Richard Dean Anderson and the commie hollywood elites have been training Bin Laden in improvised explosives for a while.

I just watched the first half of Spike Lee's documentary on Hurricane Katrina. Just when I was going back to passively hating Bush, too. Now I am in full-on red hot hate mode. I don't care what anyone's opinion is on the War in Iraq or anything else. The way he and the rest of the federal government (and FEMA) handled Katrina is just so inexcusable, I can't even wrap my mind around it. On the other hand, the footage of civilians helping other civilians does remind me that as fucked up as humanity can get; we can also be incredibly noble. It's a damned good documentary; I recommend everyone try to catch it if they can.

The past six days in the life of the Jonbenet Ramsey murder investigation read more like a Tom Wolfe novel than a real-life exercise in jurisdictional machinations between two countries and two states. A guy confesses to murder but no one believes him. A murder suspect lives the high life, tens of thousands of feet over the Pacific Ocean, eating food that many will never taste on a flight of any kind. The suspect and his escort clink glasses. There is a news photographer on board. There is a defense attorney whose first name is Patience. There is talk of a sex-change operation and a mother who tried to kill the suspect when he was young. Sherman Mccoy... meet John Mark Karr.

I'm watching the Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner, and I'll be damned if Betty White isn't alive, kicking, and one HILARIOUS dirty old lady. Betty White: "Everyone knows William Shatner's nuts. (Pause) But George Takei has actually tasted them!" Betty White: "I caught the bouquet at Bill's Wedding. And I hope to catch the cockring at Sulu's." OMFG... too funny :-) (Just in case you didn't know... the guy who played Sulu, George Takei, came out of the closet recently.) Greg Geraldo: "It must have been impossible to say'Glory Hole'with a Japanese accent." * squeal *

School started today. As far as I can tell, it is going to be fun, but also extremely stressfuli have big plans for the next nervousness album, but I/m not really sure if I/m going to be able to pursue them. First off, I have a lab partner this year, so time in the studio is going to be tight. More importantly, however is that I have to actually come to terms w/the fact that I have no real musical talent. I/m fucking bursting w/ambition, and I just don/t know what to do w/it. There are so many things that I want to do w/this albumthat I may not be able to accomplish because of my sheer ineptitude. I don/t want to bullshit this album, I want it to be great, but I/m really not sure if I/m going to be able to pull it off.

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning. Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others. If you 're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic. Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet. The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility. Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way. If you 're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art. Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

There are some things about Oliver Stone's World Trade Center that are great examples of the craft of movie making. One of them comes late in the film, in a hospital waiting room, when one woman comforts another and the point of view -- the interior point of view -- changes with such subtlety that you hardly notice it.

Have you heard all of this sanctimonius stuff from the news media about how the DNA found at the crime scene and/or the ransom note is "key" to whether charges can be made against John Karr -- sometimes stating explicitly that it is fatal to the state's case not to have a DNA match or a handwriting match (I won't even dignify with analysis the idea that the signiture in an old yearbook is BETTER handwriting evidence than more recent and extensive handwriting samples, or the idea that one little "item" can PROVE handwriting origin). If you think about it, you -- as well as I, but apparently NOT the media -- should realize that the DNA and handwriting is NOT likely to "clear" anyone.

In response to speculation reported by Cnnmoney, Eurogamer has revealed that Sony is denying any plans to reduce the price of the console. Analysts from American Technology Research believed that a price cut would come in the second half of this year in response to waning consumer interest and the growing success of the Nintendo DS and the new DS Lite. The PSP has also suffered as a result of a generally poor line up of games titles in recent months – clearly something needs to change, especially in light of EA's recent comments on the console. I doubt we ’ ll see anything pre-ps3 but certainly the rumoured 4GB edition of PSP Eyetoy might help stir up fresh interest.

OC donors and activists were the only targets of presidential aspirants U.S. Sen. Both also stopped by the Hugh Hewitt's law office in Irvine for quality time with the talk radio host/uberblogger/author/law professor. That bit of scheduling shows Romney and Frist understand the power of net roots and specifically that OC's own Hewitt is one of the fountainheads of such on the right side of politics. Who would have thought that Prison Break, a conspiratorial drama featuring a few tasty men in prison blues, would have been the sleeper hit of last year and it was so educational. We learnt all about faking diabetes, screws and the importance of marrying Holly Valance.. The boys are now out but not in the best of shape. Hot on their tail is an FBI agent played by William Fichtner, a worthy nemesis for Michael Scofield. It looks as if Scofield's obsessive planning and body art might work against him, but then again there might be a twist or two along the way. It is excellent start to the sophomore season and my only quibble is the subbing of John Billingsley but love the deal with Terrence Steadman's reverse prison house (he'll be needing a structural engineer to help him get out).

For the past couple of years, Sox fans have been able to relax when middle reliever Mike Timlin entered a game. As set-up man first for closer Keith Foulke and this year for rookie closer Jonathan Papelbon, Timlin was a reliable if aging pitcher to get through the eighth inning of a close game. But no more. Timlin (who is one month older than me) has been positively awful since coming back from the disabled list in June. But with a slim 2-run lead on Sunday night (or was it already Monday?) in the eighth, and closer Papelbon well rested, manager Terry Francona still brought in Timlin. The result? Timlin faced two men, both got on, and one scored. Papelbon came in too late. Oy.
