Following the resignation of seven Members of Parliament from his government, Prime Minister Tony Blair is being described as no longer tenable in power. The Guardian reports this:

Today I skipped my Creative Writing class because I woke up with my left ear all clogged feeling, swollen and feverish... It was the worst it's been all week. So I headed to the Med-check when I was suppose to be in class to get it checked out. I had my left ear irrigated and a huge white chunk that was about the size and the texture of a chewed stick of gum was pulled out. And voila. I could hear perfectly again and it didn't hurt anymore! The white thing was a giant infection chunk that was blocking my ear canal. It was pretty gross, it had green and black patches on it... I examined it and was super tempted to take it home to show my mom, haha. It was a good day.

From an AP article about a decline in Souther women's support for the GOP: "Still, some Southern women remain stalwart supporters of the president and the Republican Party. At a watermelon festival in Chickamauga, in the mountains of northwest Georgia, substitute teacher Clydeen Tomanio said she remains committed to the party she's called home for 43 years.'There are some people, and I'm one of them, that believe George Bush was placed where he is by the Lord,'Tomanio said.'I don't care how he governs, I will support him. I'm a Republican through and through.'" (italics added by me). Well. Thank God she has access to the school system. TIME WARP! Back to 17th century Europe you go, silly person!

There was a snapshot scoop, if you can call it that. Suri Cruise's first official baby photos shown ahead of their release in Vanity Fair. This was paralleled with the baby photos of Prince Charles that were also re-broadcast. However I wonder if this is really fair comparison of events? The future King of England does make the content list for evening news. However a troubled movie star's much hyped infant seems a bit of PR massuessing more than memorable news. Especially when you consider Princess Kiko in Japan just gave birth to the first male heir in over four decades.

Tom Cruise may have had a good reason for his recent mea culpa, when he apologized to Brooke Shields last week for criticizing her use of drugs to treat postpartum depression report Radar. Sources tell Radar that the actor told Shields that his baby's mama, Katie Holmes, was herself suffering from the same type of depression after the birth of their daughter, Suri.

Like it or not, Facebook's face may be changing for good. The social networking site, which was originally an exclusive web site for college students, has expanded to include high school students and corporations. Sponsors now spend thousands to advertise on the site and politicians are also tapping into Facebook. For Zuckerberg, the News Feed allows Facebook users to better keep up with each other. "All the most interesting stuff that's going on is presented to you," Zuckerberg told TIME recently. "The analogy would be instead of an encyclopedia, it's now news. We 're emphasizing what's going on now."

Alright, we finally got internet again. This is the finishing up post for Dragoncon. Well, been there, done that. Will we go again? I don't know. It was just so crowded. I don't like crowded. We had to go to Disney to get away from the dragoncon crowds... now that s bad. I really enjoyed all of the adult swim panels. I liked seeing what Doc and Jackson (venture brothers) looked like. They are both really hot, and I'd do them both. I liked getting to meet and get autographs from celebs. Here's are run down of who we got to meet: - Andy Hallet (Angel) - James Callis (Battlestar Galactica) - Tracy Lords - Nicholas Brendon (Buffy) - Alan Tudyk (Firefly) I'm busy at Disney now, so this update was scarse... I also saw John Mayer and Sheryl Crow at Jones Beach. I have issues with Jones Beach now because they have a strict "curfew" that says all concerts must end at 11, unless they want to pay $3,500 then they can extend to midnight. Ending a concert at 11 with 2 headliners and an opening act is impossible. Especially factoring in change over times and yada yada. Although, the teamsters at Jones Beach can really move. Anywho, the main reason for this rant was that they cut off Sheryl Crow's set. At excatly 11 pm the house lights (or the large stadium lights that blinded me as I sat on the 1st mezzanize 6 rows in) went on ending the show. No encore and 3 songs left on her setlist. Not cool Jones Beach. Not cool.

The question really is - what's next? How about a Senate Democratic luncheon celebrating Ken Mehlman? Better yet, how about a Democratic National Convention speaking slot for Don Rumsfeld? Maybe a Senate Democratic resolution sponsored asking Dick Cheney to accept official congratulations for his repeated lies about Iraq? What about Democratic senators using their campaign Pacs to contribute to Republican candidates for Senate? Or, screw it - why not just a full on, white-gloved, black-tie gala at Union Station sponsored by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee celebrating the careers of Karl Rove and Newt Gingrich - the two GOP political gurus who relegated Senate Democrats to minority status?

Dear Storm Large: You know why Supernova got rid of you tonight? BECAUSE YOU WERE TOO GOOD FOR THEM.G ilby Clark was in GNR for 5 minutes. Tommy Lee did more drugs than he did rocking. And Jason Newsted was always the "New Kid" in Metallica. But you, you've rocked for years, and you were even in a band with the girl from 4 Non-blondes. And the fact you are from THE GREATEST FUCKING CITY EVER just might help. You better start playing non 21 and over clubs when you get back.

And the WHAT THE FUCK moment of the day goes to the news of Ted Leo opening for Death Cab on a tour this fall. This is only a day after the news of a Sufjan Stevens Box Set of Christmas music. In other news, Michael Bay is destroying my childhood.

MACON, Ga. -- President Bush's once-solid relationship with Southern women is on the rocks. "I think history will show him to be the worst president since Ulysses S. Grant," said Barbara Knight, a self-described Republican since birth and the mother of three. "He's been an embarrassment." In the heart of Dixie, comparisons to Grant, a symbol of the Union, is the worst sort of insult, especially from a Macon woman who voted for Bush in 2000 but turned away in 2004. Full story...

I like them for that. I mean, okay, it's a lot of gay jokes (I don't dare look up "jon stewart stephen colbert gay" in youtube), and could offend people, but I think it's great and means they 're obviously open about it.

JESSICA SIMPSON is dumped by singer-songwriter John Mayer, who thinks her unsubtle press leaks exaggerating their relationship were a desperate publicity stunt. OUCH! Meanwhile, ex-hubby Nick Lachey is bringing Vanessa Minnillo home to meet the parents. Double-ouch.

So I like sports. I like american football, real football * wink *, baseball, hockey, generally anything that involves people running around and/or beating the crap out of each other. However I will admit I have slacked in my sports fannieness lately and have not been watching many games lately. However last night it was impossible to miss the story of the Florida Marlins and Anibal Sanchez rookie pitcher throwing the first no hitter since Randy Johnson in May of'04 and the first rookie no hitter since'01 so today my picture goes out in honor of Mr Anibal Sanchez. They may not be baseball bats but its still really hot...

Although I'm not a huge fan of watching Singapore idol, although Paul Twohill is not the strongest vocalist in the competition, and although he isn't my favourite, there's something about Paul being Paul that I really respect. In my opinion, he seems to be the most real contestant in the competition. And of course, his identity has made him iconic. So yeah. Here's just a little tribute to the recently ousted Singapore Idol contestant, Paul Twohill. Finally, Jonathan Leong, go all the way. =)

This year I'm looking forward to meeting Rachel Luttrell and David Nykl from Stargate Atlantis, Colin Cunningham and Tony Amendola (YAY) from Stargate SG-1, and Summer Glau from Firefly. I hope nobody pulls out. Gary Jones has already cancelled. Last year Chris Judge was supposed to come but didn't due to "work commitments" - although it was later admitted during the Stargate panel that he'd gone somewhere exotic to play golf.

The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington is deeply disappointed and dismayed to learn that the Washington National Cathedral has decided to host former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami - a figure who has a long documented record of intolerance, anti-semitism and human rights abuses. Under his leadership, and continuing today, repeated threats were made to destroy the Jewish state. As a prominent national church it is under no obligation to provide a platform to President Khatami. Quite the opposite; the cathedral's reputation is one of compassion and coexistence with other faith communities. This invitation belies that tradition. We ardently hope that you will consider withdrawing it.

Last night, David Lynch premiered his new film Inland Empire at the Venice Film Festival alongside stars Laura Dern and Justin Theroux. Critics scratched their heads and asked questions like "Is this supposed to make sense?" at the press conference afterwards. "It's supposed to make perfect sense... that's what's so terrible about press conferences. It's all about the film, not about the words." defended Lynch. No reviews have surfaced yet... not that I'm ever sure if I'd read them. (The Times has this brief, spoiler-free story) I wish this would get a real release date... and I hope that this 3-hour + cut makes it to theaters, or at least DVD.

Remember our pal Alec Hopkins, who's playing the young Severus snape? Why sure you do! * g*anyway... there's an interview on hpana (and am I the only one who sees that and * always * has a moment of going "what? there's an HP pro-anorexia community?") with him here, but for those of you who are scared to leave livejournal ...... the first part of the interview is here: "He's very serious about acting but he likes to joke around. It was really nice and it surprised me - I thought a big star would be different but he was so nice." Nice. Uh huh. Alec? Do the words "... kinda lush" ring any bells with you? * g *

Dumbledore: Is extremely proud of how far you've come since first year and hopes that you'll keep it up. Professor Mcgonagall: Likes you a tad bit more than she does Hermione, which is saying something. Professor Flitwick: Could go on and on [and he did (I had to cut the interview short)] about you and your generosity. Professor Trelawney: Always predicts a bright future for you. Professor Snape: Isn't nice to you, but he isn't particularly cruel either. As much as he denies it, you are one of his brightest students. Filch: Is too busy taking care of his cat.

Newsweek broke an incredible story this week, revealing that Hewlett-packard Chairwoman Patricia Dunn, upset about a possible leak for a C-net story from a member of the Board of Directors, authorized investigators to obtain the private phone records of all members of the board. The method used was “ pretexting, ” cajoling the phone companies to turn them over by pretending to be the account holder. Tom Perkins – not the leaker – resigned over the situation, trigging the current storm.

But I digress yet again. I liked the movie. One doubts the casting of (dear me I can barely recall the name —) Anne Hathaway as the assistant. Not that she ’ s fat. Just that I can think of a number of more competent ingenues standing up to Meryl Streep. Hathaway does not exactly have Style in her blood for someone so young. I could forgive it in Meryl Streep since she has character and all, but for a twenty-something Hollywood celebrity it is no excuse. Maybe I ’ m getting too fussy. Scarlett Johanson or Kirsten Dunst or (favorite ko eh, sorry ka na lang) Natalie Portman would have done a first class job. Although of course Andrea should be tall. Other than that I loved Meryl Streep.
