Three versions of the same wallpaper - one with lyrics from "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance, one with the words "we'll carry on," and one with no text at all. They all feature images of both the team and fans from during the playoffs. "Welcome to the Black Parade" was used in one of those video montage-things they played during pregame of the ALCS, if I remember correctly. And if I don't remember correctly, then... well... it's still a good song.: P

Everyone should go see The Prestige, directed by the great Christopher Nolan. I think it's just as good a film as The Departed and almost as fun. Like The Departed, it's tightly constructed and extremely well edited. Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale play two magicians who go on a Spy vs. Spy-like quest to out-do each other. Michael Caine, David Bowie (playing a fantastic version of the historic inventor, Nikola Tesla), and Andy Serkis (as Tesla's assistant) turn in superb performances as well. Serkis especially proves once again how awesome a character actor he is by perfectly mastering -- and I mean PERFECTLY mastering -- a New York accent (he's from New Zealand) and providing subtlety and humor to his performance.

On Friday, I went to see Marie Antoinette. It was sparkly and fun and silly, but poignant in it's own Sofia Coppola outsider looking in way. Anyway, I was in love with the visuals and the way they tossed a little bit of eighties into the eighteenth century. Anyway, after we were trying to piece together what really happened at the end, why there was a bread shortage, who got sent to la guillotine, etc. And I had known this all less than 10 years ago. There was a small space of time that I knew everything about la revolutione francais, but it has been forgotten. And I really loved immersing myself in it senior year and then I wrote a crazy paper about the french peasants at Cornell. It was just so fabulous. And now it is all gone. So sad.

In the end, it descended into pop culture and much to Claudia ’ s delight both Harry Potter and Captain Jack Sparrow got spoons. It was a very fun – five minutes or so. Have I mentioned lately how I love my host family? LOL.

"Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?" - Ernest Gaineswe would like to know who really believes in gay rights on Livejournal. There is no bribe of a miracle or anything like that. If you truly believe in gay rights, then repost this and title the post as "Gay Rights". If you don't believe in gay rights, then just ignore this. Thanks.

Michael J. Fox. Last week, I pointed out just how "tasteless" it is for a sick man to campaign for the research that can cure the disease that ails him. But now it turns out that Michael J. Fox has been faking it! Well-respected medical practitioner and conservative talk show host, Rush Limbaugh, assured his fairminded viewers that Michael J. Fox isn't really that sick -- he's only acting. Conversely, Rush said, Michael J. Fox must have gone off his pills while making political ads for candidates who support embryonic stem cell research. And we know it must be true, because if anybody's an expert on pills, it's Rush. (Read More...)

I've just realized, as in it just hit me, just now, that Wentworth Miller, the guy who plays Michael Scofield in Prison Break, is hot. I must be blind or something. I realized that after twenty-two eps and one of the 2nd season. I think I have cataract.

Unchecked global warming will devastate the world economy on the scale of the world wars and the Great Depression, a British government report said Monday. Britain hired former Vice President Al Gore, who has emerged as a powerful environmental spokesman since his defeat in the 2000 presidential election, to advise the government on climate change -- a clear indication of Prime Minister Tony Blair's dissatisfaction with current U.S. policy.http: // www.canada.com/topics/news/world/story.html? id = 444dca8b-0d9c-48a6-9fd4-60bfae88f520&k = 23032are world governments waking up finally? Is it too late? It may be. When will American conservatives see things for what the really are?

It is made of mixed emotions and confusion. I agreed to attempt to make a "Gangster Sherlock Holmes" costume for tomorrow's Halloween assembly at the school. I have a story for English due, about a boy who is betrayed by his "friends", and commits suicide. And for some reason, I feel horrible. So, I am attempting to cure it with a freshly-made 2 litre pitcher of cherry kool-aid, and the entire Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon album. Cheers.

I can't believe that commentators actually gave Rush Limbaugh's obnoxious commentary about Michael J Fox the time of day. Matt Lauer should be ashamed of himself.

However I may feel about her character, Eve Myles really is an adorable woman. And not just because I like her accent and her freckles. Also, John Barrowman's description and pantomine of the Weevil is officially designated Best Thing Ever. I love that man.

In other news, I've read somewhere that there will be a movie entitled The Best Time of Our Lives, starring Keira Knightley (notable actress from Pirates of The Caribbean) and Lindsay Lohan (Pop singer and actress), and rumor has it that they'll be playing as a couple (kinda). That's so.. so.. sexy! lol. Can't blame a femslasher for getting giddy, right?: D That nearly sounds like a female version of Brokeback Mountain, but... well, I wonder how Lindsay will pull this off. Lots of Lindsay Lohan bashers out there. That would be a refreshing role for the younger girl though.

I never, ever thought I'd see the day when I was genuinely sickened by the reaction of people to a piece of RPF.N ever, ever say never. And I can not believe that Doctor Who fandom has tinhats. Good lord, I co-write David/Chris and John Barrowman RPS.I wasn't offended by the tinhats in LOTR RPS - but the David Tennant/Billie Piper shippers have succeeded in offending me.

: you can thank John Carpenter for this category - who came up with it first (incidentally if you are interested in what influenced Joss Whedon, the guys who write Supernatural and other current horror filmmakers, you might want to rent a few John Carpenter films), in the classic 1978 film Halloween. I'm not positive, but pretty certain - Friday the 13th came shortly afterwards, along with the Wes Craven Freddy Krueger films: Nightmare on Elm Street. Halloween influenced my generation (which is basically the generation creating tv shows and films at the moment) - we discussed it in school. I remember an art teacher analyzing how the monster in Halloween was created in depth. This was in Junior High by the way.

And while on the subject of bad guys... I had a mild Squeeeeee moment when I discovered that Ed Morgan was played by "Roj Blake" of "Blakes Seven" himself, Gareth Thomas. I have kept myself remarkably spoiler free for the most part, and this came as a lovely little surprise. Now I know the vast majority haven't got clue one about Blakes Seven, but trust me, while having the lamest SFX and dodgiest set design for an SF show ever by a major network, it also had some of the best dialogue, kick ass characters and cool stories. It's a fab show and it was great to see Gareth Thomas again, even if he does look like a Grandad now.

Nintendo DS Lite. I'm completely addicted. I have Brain Age and the New Super Mario Bros. I think I'm going to get Animal Crossing today. Olivia had a halloween party on Saturday, it a was good drunken time. I was a lion. Zack and his friend Tyler are leaving today to drive across Canada. I wish I could go and visit Momma. She's really upset that I can't come for Christmas this year. I kinda am too. Yeah, so that's about it. I'm more or less just posting so I can talk about my new love.
