Watched the first two episodes (combined) of a new TV series: Blood Ties. I wasn't objective when I started watching it, cause I've read the books by Tanya Huff based on which this series was created. So, I waited till a friend was staying over at my place and watched it with her. She liked it and said she'd probably be able go get into it. I thought it was a perfect screen adaptation of these books. The actors really fit the characters as we know them from the books. Cool. It's not exactly a new hit like Heroes were, but it's entertaining enough for me to keep on watching it for now.

So, I got a chance to watch last night's episode of Dresden Files. It was named after Jim Butcher's first book and is much more like the novel than earlier episodes. The plot was a reader's digest apdaption of the first book too. As much as I like that, I was sort of disapointed not seeing the character Bob in this one. I know the character is a departure from the novels, but I like the actor and think it adds to the show. So with that one exception, DF keeps getting better.

The End, Well had the movie decent acting maybe it would of been better. David Wenham showed us he had more range other than his previous roles. Which to me is important. While it had it ’ s exotic flavors I wasn ’ t thrilled by the movie. Now the sound track was something I had to run out and buy after the movie. A definite thing worth checking out.

was ornate and handsome, and gave Michael Caine another chance to do his twinkly old man act, it was too predicated on the audience being "fooled" by the stage illusions of Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman. In other words, you were on your guard, and frankly, once you (or indeed, an 11-year-old child) had worked out the "twist", it grew tiresome. Which was a shame, as there were some nice visuals (a field full of light bulbs, a pile of top hats), and David Bowie was better than expected as Tesla.

Last week TOG and I went to see a preview screening of Hot Fuzz with a Q&A session afterwards with the director Edgar Wright and the actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. The movie was fun, with TOG and I laughing solidly right through to the ridiculous finale. The Q&A was a bit awkward, the guys were all a bit jet-lagged and the interviewer was uncomfortable with his questions and more intent on showing off his movie knowledge than drawing anything interesting from them.

I personally think that Casino Royale is the best modern day 007 movie that I've seen. I can't speak for the earlier ones, but I definitely prefer the new Bond, Daniel Craig, over Pierce Brosnan. The style of the movie is very different from the Pierce Brosnan era: instead of focusing on special effects and fancy high-tech gadgets, Casino Royale centers around the characters and their relationships with one another. It draws the audience in, and creates an emotional link between the viewers and the onscreen characters. Emotions other than those triggered by testosterone may begin to surface. However, the main theme of shooting people and sleeping with Bond girls is still there. Thank goodness. Hopefully the next Bond movie will continue this new style, and be as enjoyable as Casino Royale.

I'd seen some things about this site before. A place to get celebrity speakers for your event, but I hadn't realized how easy it actually was, if you have the funds to do something like that. I expected it to be full of people I'd never even heard of, but there's Jay Leno, Tracy Morgan and even Lynda Carter listed there. That's amazing. Normally you hear about a place like that and you wind up with the sort of people who would be in'The Surreal Life'but this place has legitimate'big names'. I daren't look at the actual prices though. I doubt we could afford to have someone from that list come and help us open'Look Beyond Mirrors'if we finally get sorted out to have a brick and mortar store. This post is sponsored.

OK. Now for some really important stuff. I feel sure that all of you will be as happy as I was when I heard that the “ Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ” had opened a “ Hip-hop/Rap ” wing. It ’ s about time! Some of the names mentioned as possible inductees were: Afrika Bambaataa; L.L. Cool J; Krs-one; and Talib Kweli. Is that a great line up or what? But the first two inductees were “ Grandmaster Flash ” and “ Furious Five ”. Hey! What happened to “ Snoop Dogg ”? Oh yeah, that ’ s right he was being arrested in Sweden on drug charges. And I am sure that my New Mexico friends are sad because Hobbs, New Mexico ’ s very own “ Freddie ‘ Big Baby ’ Heckard ” was not even mentioned.

Hell, my view is skewed, too. I can tell you right off: any movie that has an editorial cartoonist as its hero - played by Jake Gyllenhaal no less! - is a winner in my book. (Back when I was an editorial cartoonist for my college newspaper, I often envisioned just such a hero saving the world, played by Mel Gibson or Kevin Costner - neither of whom seem so hot to me now.)
