Is it what you imagined? It keeps this almost-serious music biopic tone to it, which I find really stifles the humor. Yet the comedy is there. Reilly plays up lots of raunchy sexuality with Jenna Fischer, there's goofy outfits, stupidity and even some great cameos -- Paul Rudd as John Lennon, Jack White doing an impressively funny Elvis and some stage time for musicians like Jewel and Lyle Lovett. But I'm not the only one who is disappointed *. Peter Sciretta at/film said he wasn't impressed, and this morning, our own Erik Davis described it as "weird, yet strangely hypnotic". Since it's coming from Judd Apatow and Jake Kasdan, maybe our expectations are too high.

As I meet my friends and look for our seats, we saw David Beckham attempted a penalty kick. Then, Goal!!! His first goal! That was awesome! The grand finale of the festival was a much anticipated set by seminal alt-rockers Pearl Jam, who played the second Lollapalooza 15 years ago. For their largest show of the decade (and one of their only dates this year), Eddie Vedder and co. delivered fan-favorites along with heavy doses of political commentary on the AT&T stage. The crowd, estimated to be over 70,000, stretched practically to the other end of Grant Park, and the later part of the set coincided with the city's fireworks over the Field Museum behind the stage. It was pure, over-the-top rock stock stuff.

All that being said, I enjoyed this movie. It was a little slow at the beginning, but the end more than makes up for it. It is a clever and witty take on a fairy tale with messages of individuality and acceptance sprinkled throughout. Did I mention it's clever? Michelle Pfeiffer is superb as the evil witch Lamia. Claire Danes will always be Angela Chase from "My So-called Life" to me, but she did a great job at being the whiny, yet charming, Yvaine. Charlie Cox as the awkward prince charming Tristran is ADORABLE. (I dare you not to melt when he smiles.) Mark Strong as Septimus was chilling and yet captivating... couldn't keep my eyes off of him.

A few days ago, I had the pleasure of seeing the latest ad campaign by design team Badgley Mischka. The duo recently hired Teri Hatcher (of Desperate Housewives fame) as their latest spokesmodel. But it was after seeing these photographs and dissecting their latest designs that I thought to myself "Teri Hatcher?!" Let's just be brutally honest for a minute - Teri Hatcher is 42 years old. After an amazing season last year, United have made reinforcements spending big amounts. This season I think they will just fall short though as the signings (Nani and Anderson) seem to be more for the future rather than the present. I also think Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney are too similar as a strike force, both small and very technical. There may be times when United will need to hit a long ball to ease some pressure and so a target man will be needed. I think Owen Hargreaves is a great signing as a holding midfield player and if Cristiano Ronaldo can equal last season, we are in for a real treat. They will not be far off Chelsea.

Finally, this morning's trailer watch brings a movie whose potential is fought every step of the way by its cast: Dan in Real Life features Steve Carell, which is good, and... wait for it... Dane Cook, which is horrifying. Carell and Cook are brothers, and the plot revolved around Carell falling in love with Cook's girlfriend, played by Juliette Binoche in a casting mismatch that strains the borders of credulity and even threatens to tear the heavens asunder and bring fiery justice down upon us all. The trailer spins the film as a stereotypical coming-of-middle-age comedy, right down to the obscenely overused Pete Townshend song toward the end, but if you read between the lines, you can see the smart comedy that's almost there, and that you know Cook is just shitting all over:

Mr Rove ’ s famous electoral strategy – focusing on the Republican base first – is also largely responsible for a shift in international public opinion against the US. It would not be fair to blame Mr Rove for the Iraq war. But it is clearly fair to blame his strategy for the Terry Schiavo fiasco and the Republicans ’ adherence to the policies and doctrines of Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and James Dobson. The world and now most of the US are contemptuous of the theocratic underpinnings of the policy Mr Rove ushered into government.

This Heat's sophomore album was monumental. "Deceit" shook the already artsy early-80s post-punk music scene by combining the rhythm-heavy drum styles of African tribal percussion (something explored by several visionaries of the time including Brian Eno and David Byrne on their acclaimed "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts"), tape-looping, abstract noise, eerie vocals and a lot of well-placed empty space. When combined, an almost apocalyptic vibe flows throughout the album. "Deceit" starts off with "Sleep", a soothing track that has a "calm-before-the-storm" feel. The following tracks seem to degress into a state of calamity, even the albums most accessible track, "S.P.Q.R.", ends in a tumultuous crash of disjointed drumming.

Their last meeting was, of course, the four-set Australian Open final of 2006. Baghdatis also took Federer to four sets during the 2004 US Open. After his three-set defeat by Rafael Nadal in Dubai earlier this year, Baghdatis was heard to say that he lacks some of the belief required to beat the top players. This is one characteristic he definitely doesn't share with Novak Djokovic, if this remains true.
