BELGRADE, Serbia (Reuters) -- A 23-year old Serb was found dead and half-eaten in the bear cage of Belgrade Zoo at the weekend during the annual beer festival. The man was found naked, with his clothes lying intact inside the cage. Two adult bears, Masha and Misha, had dragged the body to their feeding corner and reacted angrily when keepers tried to recover it. "There's a good chance he was drunk or drugged. Only an idiot would jump into the bear cage," zoo director Vuk Bojovic told Reuters. Local media reported that police found several mobile phones inside the cage, as well as bricks, stones and beer cans.

Resolved, that as the federal support for reproductive justice is taken away, that the North Carolina Democratic Party strongly encourages the North Carolina General Assembly to pass legislation to ensure that our state still affords its people reproductive justice with no net loss of rights or the practical ability to exercise those rights. Some think that this time around, the cut in the discount rate reduces the need for a cut in the federal funds rate. They are mindful of the fact that Federal Reserve officials have repeatedly said that they would like to see lower inflation become entrenched first and would not now want to be seen as being soft on inflation nor too willing to bail out investors as such an impression risks sparking higher inflation in the future.

I believe that what has caused this state of affairs is the corrupt practices of too many of our politicians and the corporations of the world that do business in Canada or with Canada. I believe that legislation such as the North America Free Trade Act (NAFTA), the Security and Prosperity Partnership for North America (SPP), Atlantica, and the Trade, Investment, and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA), the opaqueness of our federal and provincial governments regarding the nature and the consequences to Canada and Canadians if this sort of legislation is enacted, and the apparent unwillingness of our media to report on these issues, is responsible for this deplorable state of affairs.

Superbad, with Jonah Hill and Michael Cera. Looks like movies written by Seth Rogen are turning out to be consistently pretty good, if following a pretty archetypical pattern, as Kevin pointed out to me last night. I have to say, though, as Kim noted with a poke or two, there were moments where I couldn't bear to look at the screen - humor based on discomfort is still funny to me, but something about it makes me so uncomfortable in turn that I have to look away. Still, overall, it wasn't an utterly hilarious movie throughout, but it was pretty damn funny without being banal or asinine.

Celebritybabylon caught up with Entourage star Adrian Grenier, 31, and "What's she famous for again?" star Paris Hilton, 26, in Malibu this weekend. The rumor mill has been turning ever since these two were spotted soaking up sun together a few weeks back. On August 19, Adrian was very, very, very (did we say very?) eager to confirm that he and Paris are in fact an entourage of two. Pretending not to relish in his newfound paparazzi spotlight, Grenier made a deal with Celebritybabylon that in exchange for a short photo op, the couple would be left alone the following two days. We don't blame Adrian for wanting as much time as he can get with his new ex-con girlfriend. Judging by the fickle Hilton heiress'dating past, she might move on by the third day!

While thousands turned up in Miami to await the simple wristband that will allow mere hundreds to try out for American Idol, host Ryan Seacrest is revelling in his recent good fortune. The AP reports that not only will he be working at the Super Bowl, but he will also be the host at Sept. 16 ’ s Emmy Awards (which is almost like hosting the Oscars, but without the prestige or importance). And do you think he (or we) will be spared the pre-show fashion shredding? Not so, says E!: the network says he ’ ll continue to work beforehand, but in a reduced role. If only they had an emmy for that.

Arriving in theaters on August 10, 2007, Rush Hour 3 sees the beloved action comedy duo of Tucker and Chan reprising their roles as LAPD Detective James Carter and Chinese Chief Inspector Lee respectively. This time around, the two must travel to Paris to battle a wing of the Chinese organized crime family, the Triads.

With The Dark Knight looming upon us next year it seem pretty unlikely that DC/Warner Bros. would release both in the same year, but apparently this project has been put on the fast track at the studio with a script finished that apparently meets studio approval. Apparently the studio is envisioning the film as a lunching pad for other superhero offshoot films such as The Flash, Wonder Woman, The Green Lantern and Aquaman (with James Cameron and Vinny Chase?). If this does in fact happen hopefully they will do it with Brandon Routh and Christian Bale reprising their roles as Superman and Batman respectfully.

Robert De Niro as a gay high flying pirate of the skies (thankfully a viewing of ‘ Heat ’ over the weekend re-established his manly stature) and Michelle Pfeiffer as a grotesquely aged witch, are great. Claire Danes is radiant (literally), but the real stars are the supporting cast. Top to bottom, they carry the film. Standouts include, Mark Strong as Septimus, Dexter Fletcher as Skinny Pirate, Mark Williams as Billy and Melanie Hill as Ditchwater Sal. I defy you not to laugh at the parts of the film involving ‘ Billy ’ a goat made human … just great stuff.

go on. Oddly enough, Zac Efron delivers the weakest performance in these films, since his acting range, like Dana Carvey in a Hans and Franz skit, consists only of "pumped up" and "totally deflated" with no middle ground. Within the character of Sharpay, Ashley Tisdale carries an awesome sense of comic timing, and a few supporting characters show promise as well. In particular, Chad Danforth (Corbin Bleu) and Ryan perform a catchy musical number on a baseball field, "I Don't Dance," which plays out a (heterosexual) pitcher-batter showdown and pokes a little fun at the seriousness of professional sports these days.

This is a little inside baseball-y, perhaps, but for those of us on the front lines of the unending -- and incredibly tiresome -- "war" between old-school ink-stained wretches and bloggers, this is also pretty hilarious. The latest broadside from the 20th Century comes from Michael Skube, a journalism professor at Elon University, writing in Sunday's Los Angeles Times. It's yet another in a long line of pieces by defenders of the mainstream faith, bashing bloggers for their inaccuracies and their lack of "real reporting."

After reading the Washington Post story today about the 23 Virginia Tech students hospitalized for carbon monoxide poisoning, I ’ m beginning to wonder. Every university has its share of stupid and tragic. My alma mater — Penn State — had a school shooting, an incident where a student was killed by a falling tree branch, and a massive riot one summer. And we all know about the University of Maryland ’ s troubles. But, shit, Virginia Tech just can ’ t get a break. Is the campus cursed?
http://www.thesoberliberal.com/blog
Over the summer, there have been a plethora of polls stating that Congress, the President, and the direction of the country pretty much sucks. Whether it ’ s the inability to get anything done in Congress except pass legislation legalizing even more warrantless surveillance measures or the endless prattling of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales that he didn ’ t know this or that about any fired attorneys, I think it ’ s left people exhausted and demoralized. It sure as hell has done so for me.

THE INVASION - Nicole Kidman stars in the newest remake of “ Invasion of the Body Snatchers. ” This time, it is a suspected plague that is changing people in their sleep. And you thought it was dust mites all along. Kidman is a psychiatrist who suspects her son (Jackson Bond) may be involved in this plague. Daniel Craig (” Casino Royale ”) co-stars with Kidman. The best was still the first one in black and white with Kevin Mccarthy (1956). There are good action sequences in the current film, and the premise still holds, but dialogue can be stilted. Also in the cast is Jeremy Northam. “ The Invasion ” is PG 13 for violence, terror and disturbing images. Family Friendly rating of zero, but could be of interest for science fiction fans.

I run into this news on Variety that Hollywood actors Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson will team up for the comedy Marley and Me. I found it strange, odd and funny at the same time. The film is “ Fox 2000 adaptation of John Grogan ’ s bestselling memoir about an incorrigible Labrador retriever. ” Reports say David Frankel will direct Scott Frank is working on the script. Variety ’ s description of this story goes like this, “ Marley is the yellow lab adopted by Grogan and his wife. Yes, there is something relatively simplistic about the Doug Liman introduction and Paul Greengrass'masterful sequel (The Godfather Part II of espionage-based sequels, if you will!) - After all, the films themselves follow a pattern of Jason Bourne gets pissed off, gets moving across continents, karate-chops/kung-fu kicks his way through a few assassins, uses everyday objects to assist him in doing so and then smashes the shit out of a stolen car along the way. First time out it was red bags used as weapons and mini-coopers used as police-escaping battering rams. Second time out it was rolled up magazines and yellow Russian cabs. Third time out the gate, Bourne is using hardbacked books and NYPD patrol cars.

– even if it is fictional — Wilson and Vince Vaughn are compatible with very different types of women. So it is hard to imagine Wilson with Aniston, who fits appropriately with Vaughn on screen and off. But I guess everyone in the “ Frat Pack ”, aka the man-boy circle of friends, needs to play against Aniston. Ben Stiller has done it. Paul Rudd has done it. Does John C. Reilly count now? Because he ’ s done it. Now we just need to see her as the love interest for Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Luke Wilson and Jack Black. Guns are sexy. I mean, death and torture and the arms trade and rape and cruelty and 10,000 American a year shooting each other and innocent bystanders and child soldiers and kids shooting each other in school and sport hunting and death death death are all not, per se, sexy. What's sexy is Paul Giamatti talking on a cell phone, with a big shiny, phallic Glock in the other furry Mitt, eyebrow cocked, ready to redeem us all. Genius! What's also genius is Monica Bellucci, all lips and tits and chin in a corset, looking like she's about to die of boredom. Maybe she's a chain smoker with pores like dinner plates and teeth like nicotine patches, but still, damn. Also, secretly, we all know Clive Owen is hung. That's stubble?
