Clinton still has the Florida and Michigan cards up her sleeve, but it ’ s like playing poker with a two and an eight stuffed up your sleeve. Clinton is on-record prior to both states arguing that their delegates should not be seated. In Michigan, neither of Clinton ’ s opponents were even on the ballot, so one could hardly argue that it was a fair contest. Seating the delegates from Florida and Michigan reeks of “ old ” politics, with smoke-filled rooms and political wheelings in order to scam the system. Clinton can ’ t pursue those pledged delegates without looking like she ’ s gaming the popular vote.

An interesting aside to last nights primaries is how the vote is breaking down. Senator Obama wins the black vote, the youth vote, and weathy elite vote. Senator Clinton wins women and the middle working class and older voters. This provides a guide to who Senator Mccain can target in the general election. Assuming Senator Obama is the Democratic candidate, Senator Mccain can target groups that already held potential for him; the middle class, hispanics, women, seniors, and Catholics. Republicans should be encouraged that they picked a candidate that plays so well to these groups, as several other of the former Republican candidates would have had a harder time with some these niches.

Well,, Iron Man did it. One of the most successful movies of all time, right out of the gate. Don't even try to act like Speed Racer will take that much of it's business away. SR will probably top the box office this week, but IM will still bring in a respectable take. And when I say Iron Man'did it,'I mean he broke the barrier. what you will get in the next three years are a bunch of interconnected Marvel Comics films which will culminate in an Avengers film, where all of these characters come together. And your cast will include, at the very least, Ed Norton as The Hulk. RD Jr. as Iron Man and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. That's a 400 million dollar domestic take right there... but you'll also have Captain America and Thor in the movie.

The story in Cincinnati today started out as Jon Lieber's first start as a Chicago Cub in just under six years. Only it didn't go so well for Lieber as he fell victim to the small ballpark blues at Great American. He only went two innings while giving up five runs, including four (!) dingers to Joey Votto, Adam Dunn, Paul Bako, and Jerry Hairston Jr. Probably not the major league record that Lieber wanted to tie in his first start back as a Cub, but he's in the record book... tied for giving up the most home runs in an inning.

In a bid to end the stalemate caused by his own stubborn intransigence, President Bush re-worked his FEC nominations and has apparently cut a new deal with Senate leadership that would allow for a separate vote on the divisive Hans Von Spakovsky nomination. This follows the prior reach out that Sen. Harry Reid did at the end of April to try and move things along to fill the multiple FEC vacancies in a presidential election year.

“ Spider-man 3 ” - Awesomely disturbing NYC crowd. Mary Jane ’ s constant flip flopping between freewheelin ’, mentally unstable James Franco and wet blanket Tobey Maguire drove the audience into a misogynist frenzy, and lots of screams of “ Fuck you, bitch! ” and “ Whore! ” peppered the theater. Similarly disturbing, a friend at a sold out “ 300 ” midnight screening reported several cries of, “ Yeah, rape that bitch! ” during the scenes with Lena Headley and Dominic West. Unlike “ X-men: The Last Stand ”, where I repeatedly covered my face, ashamed that I once enjoyed this shit, “ Spider-man 3 ” was otherwise a really enjoyable experience, simply because so much ridiculous shit happened - I mean, c ’ mon - Peter Parker removes that jacket and it actually BLOWS WIND IN GWEN STACY ’ S FACE.
