It appears that Carson Palmer will not be playing today due to a bum elbow and that ’ s awful news for the Bengals and great news for the Jets. Ryan Fitzgerald proved earlier in this season against the Browns that he ’ s not ready for primetime let alone a matchup against Brett Favre. The Jets have 13 sacks this season already and they no doubt will be bringing the house against Fitzgerald which will force him to make bad throws as he threw 3 picks in his only start this season. The Eagles are a desperate team right now and they are also banged up as Reggie Brown (groin) and Brian Westbrook (fractured ribs) are both out this week. Still, look for the Eagles to air it out with Donovan Mcnabb and his capable WR corps against the Niners who are allowing 215.6 yards passing per game. Mcnabb has been sacked 10 times this season so the Eagles will need to protect him to give him time to get the ball downfield. That is easier said than done against a Niners ’ defense that has 13 sacks this season and 7 interceptions. What with his mind being on other things at present, he accidentally leaves a copy of his memoirs in a gym. Upon discovering it, two borderline-retarded personal trainers (Brad Pitt and Francis Mcdormand) deduce that the disk contains classified information and decide they ’ re going to blackmail Malkovich ’ s character because Mcdormand needs money for plastic surgery.

This game has all of the makings of being a bloodbath as the Lions are not very good and they are banged up. Jon Kitna will miss this game because of a bad back and that will really hurt the Lions ’ offense in this game. With Dan Orlovsky likely to start this game the Lions would like to run the ball more than usual with Kevin Smith and Rudi Johnson. The only problem with that is that the Vikings only are allowing 68.4 yards rushing per game and 2.8 yards per carry. Game Day Advisor: Another one that is relatively easy for me. Even though the Vikings pass defense is weak to say the least, I have no faith in the Lions at this point. And knowing that Jon Kitna didn ’ t practice all week does nothing to make me feel better about this situation. Engram did have some rust but he still finished with eight catches. That rust will improve each week. The big question is will Matt Hasselbeck play. If not, the signal calling duties will fall to third stringer Charlie Frye. Jeff Burton said he needed to win races in order to be a factor in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Series championship. On Saturday night, he did just that by leading 58 laps and taking his # 31 AT&T Chevy to victory lane in the Bank of America 500 at Lowes Motor Speedway.
